[i.e. Dei Gratia (by the grace of God)] was left out [from the inscription on the new florin (2 shilling) coin] - people attach more importance to such matters now a days. Yours truly C. Wood'.

Her correspondence includes letters from prominent women including suffragette leaders and includes a letter from Dr Joan Malleson.

Photographs and correspondence relating to the career and life of journalist Jean Soward, including photographs from her time as fashion journalist with the News Chronicle in Paris, studio portraits, photographs of Vernon Bartlett in Spain during the Civil War and miscelleaneous correpondence, including letters from Vernon Bartlett MP (to whom she was secretary), typescript of short story 'Extravaganza' and typescript poetry (1946-1952).

Letter from Sir Thomas Phillipps of Oxford to [Edward Duke], 14 Mar 1837. '... my thanks for the kind manner in which you express a wish to see my portion of the Wilts History in print. You will be gratified to hear that I have advanced to page 56 of the 2nd part of Aubreys Wilts [John Aubrey Natural History of Wiltshire] ... & have this last week collected from the stores of Bodley some information which I did not before possess'. Mentioning the expense of publication and the difficulty of selling works of local history. 'I am not so rich as our mutual and valuable friend Sir Richard Hoare to be able to spend & lose 2000 per annum for the mere pleasure of illustrating the History of Wiltshire. At the same time I have no wish to make it a profitable speculation for myself.' Saying that he is happy to purchase a copy of Duke's book [probably Prolusiones historicae (1837)].

The photographs in this collection cover areas of Peri's work between 1920 and 1966. They include images of his early constructivist work, bronze figurines, cement sculptures and pictures of the artist at work. The drawings and sketches are mainly of people in a variety of simple poses, but are all undated. The correspondence refers to possible commissions for the London County Council, 1958 and an exhibition of his work at St. Pancras Public Library, 1963.

Letter from Gaston Paris, 110 rue du Bac, Paris to [Rabbi Moses Gaster], 23 Jun 1887. Thanking Gaster for sending a copy of his Ilchester Lectures on Greeko-Slavonic literature and its relation to the folklore of Europe during the Middle Ages ... (1887). Autograph, with signature.

This collection consists of correspondence, notes and writings, artwork, photographs, press cuttings, exhibition material, printed material, personal documentation, financial documentiation, and ephemeral items relating to Cecil and Elisabeth Collins.

Research materials compiled by Caroline Frances Oates for her PhD thesis, 'The Trials of Werewolves in Franche-Comte in the Early Modern Period', including photocopies, microfilms and photographs of original documents, with letter regarding the deposit of the material at Senate House Library, University of London (1986-1993). The thesis was published in 1993.

Records of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' External Affairs Committee, 1932-1950, comprising correspondence and related papers covering a wide variety of issues reflecting the Committee's broad terms of reference, for example: maternity hospitals, midwifery, female circumcision, pregnancy in wartime, maternal mortality and nutrition in pregnancy. It should be noted however, that much of the material included in the series appears to have been placed here in error simply because it relates to the external affairs of the College. As well as containing records of the External Affairs Committee, this fonds also has records related to the general external affairs of the college. Some of these records are concerned with obstetrics and gynaecology during the period of the Second World War.

Portrait of Lilian de Lissa, first principal of Gipsy Hill Teacher Training College, by artist Gilbert Spencer. The painting was commissioned by the college as a present for Miss de Lissa and presented to her in a ceremony in October 1953. The portrait has been held by Gipsy Hill Teacher Training College prior to passing to Kingston Polytechnic and Kingston University.

The archive spans the years 1982-2007 and comprises: administrative papers, including correspondence, 1982-2004; documentation of A and A-organised events and conferences, 1982-2007; minutes of meetings, 1982-2000; accounts, 1994-2003; membership lists, 1980s-1990s; and documentation of A and A funding bids, 1983-2004. Printed matter includes a complete run (to issue 60) of the Art and Architecture Journal (1984-2006), and a range of other A and A publications and ephemera (postcards, fliers), many of which were designed by Pentagram Design. There is also a set of posters used to advertise the lecture series. The collection is augmented by a range of peripheral material published by other sympathetic bodies, including the Public Art Forum and the Landscape and Arts Network.
