Records of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, 1760-2002. The archive is central to the history of the modern Jewish community in Britain. It covers virtually every facet of Jewish life in Britain in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries - assimiliation, education, political emancipation, Shechita, anti-Semitism. The archive is particularly interesting on the conditions of Jewry outside the UK - there is a lot of information, for example, on the rise of fascism in mainland Europe in the 1930s and the Holocaust.

Papers of concentration camp inmates, 1942-1944, comprise copies of correspondence concerning concentration camps and the death of Jews and notably include a letter from the commandant of Gross Rosen concentration camp, Lower Silesia, to the Gestapo, Düsseldorf regarding the disposal of belongings of deceased Jew, Max Zobel, 1942; letter from Ernst Kaltenbrunner to all police chiefs stating that all executions are to be reported to the local justice department, with reasons for the executions withheld, 1942 and a letter from Stürmbahnführer, SD Latvia, suggesting a lack of concern about notifying the relatives of dead Jews, 1942.

Heilbrunner's account of life in Dachau, 1933, is a typescript memoir of Jewish inmate, Heilbrunner, in 1933. Written in the form of a narrative in the first person; structured into four chapters, describes in some detail the conditions in the camp and the brutality of the camp guards, contains manuscript annotations and corrections.

Papers concerning Theresienstadt, 1940s, comprise copies of a report by Dr Muneles on the Hebrew book cataloguing project at Theresienstadt, 1945; typescript report regarding Theresienstadt, an inventory of the land and property, 1945; history of Theresienstadt during the Nazi era and typescript report on the situation there, providing statistical information relating to the inmates and transcriptions of documents produced during the camp's existence by both the Nazi camp authorities and the Jewish self-governing body.

Papers of the office of Reichsführer SS, 1938-1944, mostly emanate from the office of Reichsführer SS and deal with administrative matters. The collection comprises correspondence between the office of the Reichsführer SS and Reichskulturwalter Hans Hinkel (mainly) regarding administrative and cultural matters, 1939-1944 and an incomplete monthly information sheet Befehle und Mitteilungen, 1939-1942. It most notably includes two original letters from Reichsführer SS, Himmler (1144/1/14-/23); an incomplete set of an in-house information sheet providing instructions to SS members on a variety of matters such as dress protocol for visits to concentration camps by SS members (1144/2/4); qualification for wearing the 'Death's Head' ring of the SS (1144/2/2); and orders forbidding membership of clubs deemed inappropriate.

Original (and some copy) correspondence between friends and relatives of the Cahn Hepner family, 1874-1952, many of whom perished in the Holocaust.

The verbatim proceedings of Amon Goeth's trial are preceded by a speech by the First Prosecution Counsel, Mieczyslaw Siewierski followed by an addresss by the Defence Counsel, Dr. Pokorny. A reading of the indictment follows. This includes a general overview of Nazi activities in Poland; a specific account of Goeth's role during this period; and descriptions of Plaszow Camp, the liquidation of Krakow and Tarnow ghettoes and Szebnia camp.

Papers of Schwarzheide concentration camp, 1990s, comprise copies of documentation regarding its bombing, including various short articles on the subject; details of the units employed in the bombing raids; maps of the camp and environs and correspondence with archives regarding relevant holdings.

Papers of the International Council of Jews from Czechoslovakia, 1977-1984, comprise a variety of papers all stamped with the organisation's name: The International Council of Jews from Czechoslovakia. Subjects include restitution, B'nai B'rith, preservation of memorial scrolls, life for Jews in post war Czechoslovakia, amongst others.

Papers of Josef Mueller, 1960s, came about as a result of research into the events that took place in Plaszow concentration camp, in particular the crimes and testimony of Josef Mueller, one of the former commandants. The papers consist of the trial judgement, a transcript of his interrogation and various statements in the case against Mueller. There are also numerous statements from Mueller, acting as a witness in the trials of other defendants. All of the records are copies from the main repository for war crimes trials records at Ludwigsburg. Many of the names refererred to in the records have been deleted for reasons of data protection.

Microfilm of reports, Jul-Oct 1941, amassed by the Kommandostab RFSS Nachrichtenkompagnie from regional HSSuPF, (Higher SS and police leaders) headquarters in North, South and Central Russia documenting the actions and movements of various battalions and regiments either linked with or part of the Einsatzgruppen. In particular they provide details of the murder of Jews, partisans and other civilians.

Copy of an expert report on the duty of obedience of SS leaders particularly with regard to orders to murder, by Dr Hans-Günther Seraphim, lecturer of Göttingen University, 1960. Verdict and judgement in an appeal in a Nazi war crimes euthanasia trial against Eugen Schmidt and Helen Schürg, OLG Frankfurt am Main, Ss 92/47, 1947. This copy trial document shows the verdict, sentence and trial judgement in a 'Euthanasia Case' appeal against Dr Walter Eugen Schmidt and Helen Schürg, OLG Frankfurt am Main 12.8.1947 Ss 92/47. They were originally found guilty of multiple murder and accessories to multiple murder respectively at the Eichberg nursing home, Hessen, between 1941 and 1945, along with several other defendants at a trial at the LG Frankfurt am Main, 21 Dec 1946-, No. 4 Kls 15/46. The appeal court upheld the verdicts and in the case of Schmidt raised the sentence from life imprisonment to death.

Papers concerning conditions in Europe for Jews, 1940-1946, comprise a typescript copy of a diary written by a Jewish refugee from Berlin, describing life in Belgium during the occupation, 1944; copies of extracts from Luxemburg newspapers regarding press freedom; postcard of the Luxemburg Synagogue, which was burned down in 1940, 1940-[1945] and many typescript reports concerning conditions for Jews, notably including a report on the effect of the ceasefire agreement between Germany and France on people in the French camps and also on Jews in the occupied and unoccupied zones of France.

Georg Vogel and Major Kusmin, 1945, concerning the repatriation of some Czech nationals which Kusmin authorised on receipt of medical certificates and a statement that they are free of lice. The remaining minutes deal with applications for food and clothing and the need for more disinfectors following the removal of the Russian ones.
