Includes a portrait of the King in the initial E and a decorated heading.

An 'inspeximus' is a charter in which the person granting the charter avouches to have inspected an earlier charter which he repeats and confirms.

Papers of the Nesham Family, 1820-1860, comprising 4 volumes of notes by William Nesham, taken at lectures given by Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie FRCS (1783-1862), 1820-1821; and a volume of notes by Nesham's son Thomas Cargill Nesham, taken at lectures given by Sir James Young Simpson (1811-1870), 1860-1861.

Copies of the papers of Maria Nermi-Egounoff, opera singer, 1938-1990, including Nermi-Egounoff's cv, replete with press cuttings of reviews of her work; short biographies of British residents of Hungarian extraction who were anti-Semitic; newspaper articles and biographical notes.

Papers of Sir Evan Nepean. The first two sections consists of letters from Earl St. Vincent, 1793 to 1803. There are also two series from agents, one of fifty-four letters, 1796 to 1801, which include some from Sir Sidney Smith and the second of seventy-one letters from William May, 1797 to 1798. There is also a secret account book kept by Charles Wright, Chief Clerk to the Admiralty, between 1795 and 1804. This was purchased from Maggs Bros. in 1969. (3 vols, 2 boxes) In the Gosse collection of papers relating to piracy there are letters received by Nepean, 1817 to 1819.

Papers of the Neonatal Society, 1959-2005, comprising correspondence and material relating to society meetings, membership and constitution.

The collection consists of original and copy documents relating to Viscount Nelson. Although it spans his career from 1780 to his death in 1805, the bulk of the collection centres on 1798 - the year of the battle of Aboukir Bay - and the three years 1803-1805, during which Nelson commanded the Mediterranean Fleet. Included are several hundred official reports and surveys concerned with the manning, ordnance, stores, defects and sick lists of the ships under Nelson's overall command, plus reports on courts martial, prize money, prisoners, sailors' pay, etc. Also present are weekly reports by the chief physicians of the Fleet comparing health on various vessels and giving details of treatments proposed; letters to Nelson on issues such as inventions, requests for places, etc.; and a collection of bills. The papers carry the signatures of most of the senior officers under Nelson and are generally addressed to Nelson himself.

'Always a Grenadier', a memoir covering his life and career, 1916-1968, notably his evacuation from Dunkirk, May 1940, his service with the Grenadier Guards in North Africa, 1942-1943 and 1950-1952, and Italy, 1943-1945, including the landings at Anzio, Jan 1944, and with the 1 Guards Parachute Bn, Palestine, 1946-1948, his involvement in the planning of the Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation, 1952-1953, his work as a member of the Planning Staff, NATO Standing Group, British Joint Services Mission, Washington DC, 1954-1956, his service in Germany, 1959-1961, as General Officer Commanding, London District, 1962-1965, including his involvement in the planning of Rt Hon Sir Winston (Leonard Spencer) Churchill's funeral, 1965, and as General Officer Commanding Berlin (British Sector), 1966-1968, privately printed by the Grenadier Guards in [1982].

The archive consists of correspondence, campaigning material, photographs, posters, postcards and badges. It mainly relates to the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, but also covers international peace campaigns. It includes the manuscript of a book on the menopause.

'My own dearest Emma your last letter was July 25th, and having received that in 5 Weeks I expected one by this days post which brought us English News to August 19th: but I know my Dear Emma the uncertainty of the arrival of letters and I am too well assured that you omit no opportunity. By this time I expect the Kent is in England and my letter got to the admiralty, We have not seen or spoke a Vessel since my letter via Paris of Sept 9th: this goes by Barcelona. Adl Campbell is on board and desires his kind compliments. God Bless you My own Emma and be assured that I long to see you and that I am Ever Ever your all your most faithfully [signature scribbled over]'. Postscript added in the same hand: 'Dr. Scott is come to look at Naples and Palermo before we go home.'
