'Specification of the workmanship for the Kenyon and Leigh Junction Railway', the specification itself is not in John Urpeth Rastrick's hand, but it includes notes added to the text by him. His signature appears on the dorse of the fly-leaf, with the date of 16 Oct 1829 and a note: 'the first specification for a railway that was ever made'.

Most of the letters were dispatched to or from London or the industrial areas of South Wales and the West Midlands.

The collection contains notebooks of sketches and drawings, 1838-1841; levelling books, 1840-1880; and Henry Rastrick's diary for 1884.

Copy of the minute book of Rastrick Township meetings, held by Mr James Bottomley of Brighouse Corporation. The main concerns of these meetings were poor relief, local roads and tax assessments.

Including decisions of the court, Landesamt für die Wiedergutmachung - Stuttgart, regarding an award based on loss of professional and economic status, 1956, and on health effects, 1958. Of particular interest is the testimony of the court's medical officer, Dr Joachim Beck which proved decisive in keeping damages down to a minimum, and Raschkow's reaction to it as evidenced in subsequent correspondence.

Papers of John Ramsbotham, 1799-1806, comprising a volume titled Clinical Cases, containing manuscript case notes, 1799-1806. Including midwifery, innoculations, vaccinations, and the treatment of pneumonia and typhus fever (which was epidemic at Wakefield Gaol in 1803). Also containing biographical information about John Ramsbotham, compiled by John William Walker, FRCS, who donated the volume.

The collection consists of two mounted pencil sketches of nesting birds and a moth presented to Herwald Ramsbotham, Parliamentary Secretary, Board of Education, by the Governors, Staff and Students of Chelsea Polytechnic at the opening of building extensions to the Modern Art and Biology classrooms at Chelsea Polytechnic, 4 November 1932.

Papers of Alexander Ramsay, early 19th century, comprising a manuscript volume titled N125, Compendium. Grass, herbaceous and medical Plants, collected and arranged in their prominent families, the less important species being left out, thus comprising the leading features of Botany. By A Ramsay MD. And Presented By him to the Royal College of Surgeons, London - as a small testimony of his respect for its members. containing dried, pressed plants with manuscript labels, c 1801 (watermark); and a manuscript volume titled N126, Compendium of the Musci Tribes. By Alexander Ramsay MD. Presented by him to the Royal College of Surgeons, London. containing dried, pressed British mosses with manuscript labels, and plants from North America.

The archive consists of a typescript copy of 'The Women's Pilgrimage' - which was a script for a talk given by Annie Ramsay on her part in the 1913 National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies (NUWSS) Pilgrimage from Land's End to London.

The collection contains correspondence and papers of Sir William Ramsay and of Morris W Travers. The bound volumes contain letters to Ramsay, chronologically arranged by Travers, and copies of related printed papers. The remaining Ramsay papers are grouped according to their contents: laboratory notebooks, lecture notes, miscellaneous papers and published works. Professor Travers grouped Ramsay's published scientific papers into ten 'volumes'. Travers's own papers are divided into two main sections: firstly papers relating to his work on Ramsay, including various papers having some bearing on Ramsay's work and material concerning his arrangement of the Ramsay papers; and secondly papers relating to Travers' own career, including papers on awards and distrinctions, scrapbooks, and miscellaneous material.

Created during Ramphal's time in office, the collection comprises of papers arranged under the following sections: Committees 1975-1976, includes agendas, supporting papers and minutes for committees such as the Meeting of Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation and of the Secretariat Finance Sub Committee. Ministerial Meetings 1975-1977, holds minutes and papers from meetings of Law Ministers, Health Ministers, Senior Officials but especially Finance Ministers Meetings. Conference 1976, has documents from the Non-Aligned Conference. Correspondence 1975-1977, contains letters to and from the Secretary-General and other senior Secretariat officials. Country Files 1975-1977, mainly contain briefs prepared by each area of responsibility within the Secretariat; legal, health, youth, education, food production and rural development, science, applied studies, Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation, international affairs, trade and finance.

Specific issues covered relate to The New International Economic Order, Lome Convention and the North South Dialogue as well as the situation in Southern Africa including Commonwealth Aid to Mozambique and sporting links with apartheid South Africa. Divisions 1975-1976 relates to the Youth Affairs Programme and Meetings of the Youth Affairs Council. Economic 1975-1977, contains the Report by a Commonwealth Expert Group: McIntyre Report Towards a New International Economic Order and papers of the Commonwealth Technical Group on the Common Fund. Internal 1975-1977, covers Commonwealth Day, including the first simultaneously observed Commonwealth Day. Organisation 1975-1977, covers Ramphal's appointment to the Dag Hammarskjold Foundation Board of Trustees as well as papers from the Anglo-French Colloquium 1976. Reviews 1975-1976, includes the Internal Review of Secretariat Activities, 1975.

Records of the Ramblers Association. This collection consists of administrative and publicity material relating to the national and local activities of the association, including minutes, financial material, details of the routes of well-known walks, press cuttings and press releases. It also contains subject files produced by the main Ramblers Association offices on the various campaigns and sites of interest with which the association has been involved. Separate deposits were also received of material generated from the offices of the Director of the association, the Assistant Director of the Access section and the Countryside Secretary of the Southern Area.

Records of Ralli Brothers Limited, merchants, comprising printed annual reports 1953-60; financial records 1814-1857; powers of attorney 1839 and 1847; correspondence 1868-1872; business papers 1836-1866 and 1908, and report on organisation 1939; letting agreement 1843 and historical notes 1902-1952.

The collection comprises primarily of the Raising Standards in Pensions Administration's secretary's papers, along with a copy of Dunnett Shaw's report on raising the standards of pension administration from 2001.
