Records of the Presidents of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 1932-1999, comprising papers of successive presidents of the College, or of files maintained by the College administration and relating to the presidents' transactions with the College. During the early period of the College's history there was no established filing system, and papers of presidents may appear in other series (such as A1), or mixed with personal papers (see the S series). Papers relating to various individuals' activities as officers of the College in a different capacity, such as Honorary Secretary, may also be found mixed with their papers as President.

The files of the presidents cover an enormous field. As well as records concerned with the administrative running of the College, presidents dealt with examinations, overseas matters, fellowship and membership, liaison with other medical bodies and the Department of Health and specific medical concerns such as pregnancy, abortion, childbirth, anaesthesia, contraception, gynaecological conditions and maternity hospitals. There is usually a president's file on any subject of interest or concern to the College.

Papers of the Presbyterian Church of England Women's Missionary Association, 1879-1961, comprising Home committee minutes and correspondence, 1907-1972; overseas correspondence and minutes, 1903-1958; and annual reports, 1937-1961. There are minutes of local missionary councils, both of the WMA and the Joint Councils; correspondence from missionaries in the field; papers of schools, hospitals and churches run by the missionaries and later taken over by local people. There are also journals and papers of individual WMA members such as Catherine Ricketts; Girls Auxiliary material; periodicals, publications and leaflets. There is a small amount of photographic material; and some papers relating to the internment of individual missionaries by the Japanese. There is also a series of material relating to the mission buildings, including plans. The papers should not be seen as referring just to the WMA as files include correspondence from male missionaries to the Foreign Missions Committee and the WMA, and many activities were carried out jointly.

Manuscript volume of directions, devotions and prayers drawn up probably by a pastor particularly for use among the sick, perhaps of mid-18th-century date. The final leaf bears the date 1758, and has been used for keeping an account. Elsewhere are references to 'Charles Linton, Quebec', 10 Mar 1806, and again 'Charles Linton his book his father gave him, Quebec', 10 Mar 1812. A section of the volume contains the printed order for the administration of holy communion, baptism, the visitation and communion of the sick, the burial of the dead, the churching of women, etc.
