This collection comprises 18 minute books, the bulk of which record the proceedings of Board of Directors meetings which were usually held monthly. Two of these volumes are described as private minute books, and record discussions at board meetings of matters such as directors' salaries. Two volumes record the minutes of annual and extraordinary general meetings.

Despite a few gaps in the minute books, the most regrettable being the absence of the first minute book, the records give a clear picture of the development of a trade benevolent enterprise. The gaps are in part compensated for by the survival of accounts and cash books from the foundation of the institution and by a diary for 1837 belonging probably to the first secretary. The records are in good condition.

There are a large number of photographs and press cuttings as well as some family papers. The photographs show Fisher's activities as Mayor and as Chairman of the London Labour Mayors Association, and include pictures of visits to Geneva, Australia, Gibraltar, New York, Israel and Belfast.
