Letter from Charles Jenkinson (1st Earl of Liverpool) of Addiscombe Place to James Maitland, Earl of Lauderdale, 24 Aug 1793. Returning to him a copy of Turgot's Réflexions sur la Formation et la Distribution des Richesses (1788). 'It contains all that Mr Adam Smith has written on the influence of capital and on the commerce of a nation; but M. Turgot develops his principles in a more neat and clear manner by far, than Adam Smith, who appea[rs] to have borrowed greatly from him'.

The material on Edward Jenner includes papers relating to organisations set up in the aftermath of his vaccination discoveries: the National Vaccine Establishment, the Royal Jennerian Society and the London Vaccine Institution.

Five letters from Sir William Jenner to Dr Charles John Hare, discussing his appointment (presumably as royal physician), 1861; referring to a charitable donation, 1867; news of his family and house, 1890; on admitting women to the College (University College London), opposing the admission of women to the profession, and family news, 1895; and discussing Hare's lectures and other matters, mentioning the Queen and referring to practical arrangements relating to Jenner's whereabouts (undated). Records of the Jerez de la Frontera Anglican Chaplaincy, Spain, comprising: register of baptisms, 1878-1966 (Ms 21026); and register of burials, 1873-1977 (Ms 21027). They were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff in 1984.

The archive consists of material collected by Betty Jerman for a planned book on baby-abduction by women (never published). Jerman became interested in the subject through the case of Pauline Jones (who abducted baby Denise Weller in 1971, and was sentenced to 3 years in Holloway prison) and wrote a series of articles about the case for The Guardian that led to a 'Free Pauline Jones' campaign.

The archive is mainly comprised of press cuttings from the national media about 'baby-snatching' cases, spanning 1971-2002. It also includes Jerman's book proposal outline, research notes, correspondence, typescripts and publications. It includes papers relating to the Pauline Jones' case, the Kilroy television programme 'Snatch', the support organisation The Portia Trust, and the campaigning organisation Radical Alternatives to Prison.
