This collection contains Betacam cassettes of interviews and transcripts of interviews with leading political figures and members of the public from Margaret Thatcher's Premiership, 1979-1990. The subject matter ranges from issues of social history during the 1980s to ideological commentary on the nature of Thatcherism. The interviews also cover the impact of Thatcherism after Mrs Thatcher's departure from office.

Coal industry collection. Pamphlets, parliamentary papers, press cuttings and extracts concerning the coal industry in UK, France, USA and Germany, collected by Tawney. Tawney's despatch box and a quantity of miscellaneous papers omitted from the original list were identified and added in 1994. The names of Governors and Directors of the Corporation are indicated by a mark in the margin. The last page of the book has been reused for personal accounts, including the purchase of female mourning clothes, 1720.

Diaries of George Bernard Shaw, 1885-1897, containing entries relating to his daily life in London during this period, mostly written in Pitman shorthand, with details of names, places, finances and petty expenses. The diaries provide and interesting insight into his personal life, various radical intellectual organisations in London, his professional journalistic work, and his attempts to create a successful writing career. Also included in the collection are five volumes of transcripts made by Shaw's secretary, Blanche Patch, [1946-1950].

Material relating to the documentary film series The Second Russian Revolution, 1989-1991, concerning the collapse of Communism and the policy of Glasnost pursued by the Communist party of the Soviet Union during the 1980s, made by Brian Lapping Associates Ltd and broadcast in May-Jul 1991, including original research interviews, interview transcripts, post-production transcripts, and audio tapes of interviews with leading personalities in the USSR; 7 VHS videotapes of the completed series of programmes; a series of 8 final programme scripts for the finalised and televised programmes; and an official press release package for the series. The collection also includes a VHS videotape [and transcripts] of two additional programmes entitled 'Countdown to Coup' and 'Coup', which were shown in Nov 1991 as an update to the events of 'The Second Russian Revolution'. The interviews include discussions with Mikhail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin. The producer of the series was Norma Percy, and the director was Mark Anderson.
