Picture postcards and some postcard sized illustrations, 1806-1946 (mainly 1898-1914). Most of them depict Russian scenes and people but there are also cards from Estonia, Finland and Britain. Some of the cards had been sent to Edmund W Richardson as editor of "The Picture Postcard". Relatively few however have been used and sent through the post. There is also a diary for Bromhead's Italian mission from May-December 1918; correspondence between Bromhead and the Government Committee for Propaganda, supervising his activities, correspondence received by Bromhead from British and Russian contacts in Russia, memo on Russian affairs by Sir Bernard Pares, Russian printed material; photographs (probably) taken by Bromhead while on his mission to Russia, the main subjects of the photographs are Russian troops and the work of the Mission, 1916-1917

Photograph albums of Natalia Sergeevna Cheremtevskaia (later Countess Brasova), depicting her life with Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich during the early years of their life together 1909-1913. Most of the albums date from before their marriage in 1912 and contain informal photographs of the Grand Duke and Brasova and their family and friends. Some of the photographs were taken during the couple's European travels.

Published and unpublished émigré memoirs; sound cassettes and transcripts of interviews with Russian émigrés; catalogues and indexes of informant information; papers relating to Russian/Soviet emigration, prepared for book, The Other Russia, a collaboration between Michael Glenny and the historian Norman Stone. In preparation for this work on Russian émigrés from the Soviet Union, Glenny and researchers working under his direction recorded over 160 interviews of Russian émigrés as well as collecting a number of copies of unpublished manuscripts and memoirs that had been published in little known sources. Only around a third of the material was used in the published volume.

Illustrations, purchased from Barachevsky Russian Book Shop, mostly re Russia and mostly in colour from various antiquarian books including the following topics - art, objets d'art, costume, the imperial family, the military, orders and medals, religion and views of the country.

The papers chiefly consist of background research and notes to publications especially to Professor Keane's work 'Václav Havel: a Political Tragedy in Six Acts' (1999), and include background research and draft chapters.

Additionally, the archive includes notes and offprint articles relating to nationalism and citizenship; fear and politics; democracy; as well as the general background to political change in Czechoslovakia, including Charter 77, the Velvet Revolution, and the Velvet Divorce leading to the foundation of the Czech and Slovak republics.

Copies of documents relating to Romanian foreign policy, c 1932-1936 made in the archives of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These papers were used by Dov Lungu in preparing his Ph.D thesis, presented to Queen Mary College, London in 1976 entitled "The problem of Soviet-Romanian relations in Romanian foreign policy under Nicolae Titulescu, 1932-1936".

Manuscript draft of parts of George, Earl Macartney's work "An account of Russia MDCCLXVII" [1767] The order of the sections differs considerably from the published version which also includes chapters on history and arts and sciences as well as tables of exports and imports. There are various textual differences, usually minor.
