Papers of Sir Edward William Campbell Rich Owen. They consist of an account, drawn up in 1825, of the mutiny at Spithead in 1797 and of documents and narrative towards a history of the Walcheren expedition of 1809. There is also a letter of Privy Seal appointing Owen Clerk of the Ordnance, 1834.

Papers of William Fitzwilliam Owen. They include a narrative of Owen's naval service, an account of the proceedings in the Cornelia and papers relating to the Africa survey and his work at Fernando Po. There are also papers concerning the settlement founded by Commander Owen, Admiral Owen's father, in Nova Scotia.

Papers of Sir Barry Edward Domvile, consiting mainly of a series of detailed diaries extending from 1892 almost until Domvile's death. There is also a collection of paper cuttings and photographs relating to the Greenwich Pageant of 1933 and to Anglo-German relations.

Papers relating to HMS GANGES consisting of three logs of the GANGES, 1826 to 1827 and 1850 to 1852, and one kept on the SWIFTSURE, 1888 to 1889. There are eight documents, including four orders received in 1782 by Admiral Sir Thomas Graves ([1747]-1814) from Admirals Lord Hood (q.v.), Lord Rodney (1719-1792), 1782, Lord Cornwallis (q.v.), 1804, and Lord Collingwood (q.v.) (1804). Also in the collection are miscellaneous letters from Sir Edward Pellew (q.v.), 1810, and Lord St Vincent (q.v.), 1801 and 1822.

Papers of Admiral Thomas Griffin consisting of a full run of logs from 1716 to 1749, letterbooks, 1732 to 1749, with letters inserted in 1751, 1755 and 1757, and books of orders received and issued, 1735 to 1745 There is also a purser's account book, 1742 to 1743.

Papers of Adml Edward Hawker. They consist of logs covering Hawker's service afloat, two order books for the BELLEROPHON and BRITANNIA and a notebook of vessels captured 1805 to 1806. There is also a letterbook of his father, Captain James Hawker, kept during his command of the IRIS, 1779 to 1781, on the North America and West Indies Station.

Papers of Captain Edward William Hereford. The manuscripts include his commissions, testimonial, logs for the TRAFALGAR, HAWKE and ACORN, 1851-7, which are illustrated, logs of the ARROGANT, 1862, the COLUMBINE 1872-3, Watch Bills and Quarter Bills, Letterbooks, 1881-1903, an illustrated notebook of gunnery instructions, gunnery notes and a list of medals.

Papers of Margaret Ismay, consisting of twenty-seven diaries kept by Mrs Ismay, 1881 to 1907. There are also a number of items deposited on loan in 1965 by Mrs Ismay's daughter-in-law, Mrs Julia Ismay. They consist of four diaries kept on a voyage to South America in 1856 by T.H. Ismay and also diaries kept by his son, Joseph Bruce Ismay (1862-1937), on a journey round the world, 1887 to 1888.

Papers of William Henry Jones-Byrom. They contain one log, 1844 to 1848, letters to his mother, 1859, appointments, 1844 to 1860, and Captain Osborn's report on the mission of the FURIOUS in China.

Papers of Augustus Keppel, consisting of two groups. The first, deposited on permanent loan in 1944, is a collection of letters, 1778, from the Admiralty and Keppel's replies. There are also court martial resolutions on Admiral Byng, 1757. The second, purchased in 1946, is a series of order books, 1748 to 1778, and two Quarter Deck order books, 1761 to 1762, 1778.

Papers of Sir Robert Brice Kingsmill. Apart from the log of the ELIZABETH, 1783 to 1786, the collection consists of ten letter and order books, 1793 to 1800.

Papers of Leonard G Carr Laughton, consisting of mainly notebooks, both in his hand and that of his father's, containing their research at the Public Record Office, British Museum and other repositories, relating to various aspects of nautical history. Among these are notes on Nelson, extracts from Pepys' diary and notes for articles on HMS VICTORY. There are also blueprints used in the restoration of HMS VICTORY, together with the Technical Committee minutes of meetings, 1927-8 and the Advisory Committee minutes, 1929. There are a series of notes on lectures given by Professor Sir John Knox Laughton, including those given at the Royal Naval College at Greenwich in the early 1900s. The collection contains a typed copy of L G Carr Laughton's 'Nautical Dictionary'; a card index for Dictionary of National Biography entries; a number of albums containing newspaper cuttings; and various correspondence including letters with Dr R C Anderson, 1925-37. Finally, there are some manuscripts written by others including Harold H Brindley and a copy of a personal logbook kept by Dudley Stone on board the ship MONKBARNS, 1913, Buenos Ayres to Australia.

Papers of Osbert Charles Gresham Leveson-Gower, including letters home, circulars and telegrams bound into five volumes, 1893 to 1908, and loose letters to Miss Leveson-Gower, 1919 to 1928. There are also two logs, 1905 to 1908.

Papers of Lt Francis Meynell. There is an illustrated log, 1853 to 1854, kept while Meynell was in the ROYAL GEORGE. His letters cover his whole career, 1833 to 1854, and have been organized by his mother, together with newspaper cuttings relating mainly to the China War. In addition, there is a sketch book which includes several ships' portraits and places Meynell visited, from China to the South Atlantic.

Papers of Sir Albert Hastings Markham, including a log, 1856 to 1874; a diary, 1875 to 1876, and an admiral's journal, 1892 to 1894. For the TRIUMPH, 1879 to 1882, there is a night order book, a captain's information book, a remark book and a letterbook. There is a night order book for the HECLA, 1879 to 1885, a remark book for the ACTIVE, Training Squadron, 1888, a telegram book and reports for the Mediterranean, 1892 to 1894, and press cuttings and photograph albums. The papers include correspondence on the voyage of the ROSARIO; official correspondence, 1886 to 1889, 1892 to 1893; papers relating to the collisions in which Markham was involved; letters and papers on Antarctic exploration and on Markham's literary work. Finally, there is Markham's semi-official and private correspondence throughout his career. This includes letters from his cousin Sir Clements Markham (1830-1916).

Papers of Frederick North. The collection consists of his diaries in the ALERT, 1878 to 1882. There are also photograph albums relating to North in the Department of Pictures.

Papers of Vice Admiral R Don Oliver. They consist mainly of family correspondence, but there are some official service documents; Vice Admiral Robert D Oliver's recollections; files of personal papers from the 1960s and 1970s; papers of both his first wife, Mrs Torfrida L.A. Swann (nee Huddart) and the Huddart family, and those concerning his second wife, Mrs Marion Joyce Glendinning Van de Velde; diaries for 1960-1978; newspaper cuttings and photographs. There are also papers belonging to his father, Colonel William James Oliver, and his uncle, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry Francis Oliver: these include Sir Henry Oliver's recollections, 100th birthday letters and letters of condolence to his wife, Dame Beryl Oliver, on his death in 1965.

Papers of Sir William Parker. The papers form a full collection for all periods of Parker's service. There are official and private logs, 1794 to 1811, 1827 to 1834 and 1841 to 1852; official letterbooks, 1799 to 1834, and order books, 1795 to 1834, 1841 to 1857, and loose papers relating to his commands. Parker's personal papers include official service documents, his letters home, and his correspondence which includes letters from Sir James Graham (1792-1861), 1831-1845, Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy (1769-1839), 1831 to 1834, Gilbert Elliot, 2nd Earl of Minto 1841 to 1848, and Admiral Sir Edmund Lyons (1790-1858), 1845 to 1854. There is a log of a Spanish ship captured by Parker in 1794 and a register of lading of Nuestra Senora de la Esperanza, captured in 1804. The collection also contains letters written to Dr Andrew Baird by Earl St. Vincent. The final section, loaned in 1974, consists of two series of letters. The first consists of those received by Earl St. Vincent, 1791 to 1821, and includes some from Lord Nelson, 1796 to 1804, and the second, letters to Parker, including Nelson letters, 1803 to 1805.

They include letters from friends in the armed forces, letters from his mother and letters from friends at home in Tooting. There are also photograph albums and religious books.

Diaries recording William Halle's daily life, working as an artist and at the Telephone Exchange. He writes about trying to sell paintings to galleries, organising exhibitions and records his worries over money, his health and his sister, who lived in South Africa. The diaries also record his thoughts on various friendships and sexual relationships.

A collection of material relating to Harry Cusden Ltd. The collection includes business diaries kept by Harry Cusden, 1919-1943, papers relating to the running of the business including numerous documents relating to war damage repairs, the purchase of the properties, leases, etc. The series also contains personal papers, share certificates and customer correspondence. There is a large collection of photographs including photographs of the exterior of the shops, window displays, staff and staff outings, as well as a large collection of miscellaneous photographs showing family, friends, holidays, events etc. Many of these photographs are unidentified and undated. There is also a series of various price lists and advertisements for the business, trade cards, ephemera relating to Harry Cusden's role as Councillor, newspaper cuttings and other pieces of ephemera.

Letters written from Australia, New Zealand and South America from Jackson, a commercial traveller, to his wife Emily, who was living in Wandsworth. Between November 1891 and August 1892 Jackson travelled to Australia and New Zealand, and wrote home to his wife with his impressions of Melbourne, Ballarat, Launceston, Sydney, Christchurch and Dunedin, as well as details of his journeys and everyday activities. In 1893 he went to Brazil and Argentina and was in Rio de Janeiro during a revolution, being forced to leave the city before travelling on to Buenos Aires, including having to spend time in quarantine on the Isla de Flores. His third trip was between October 1894 and September 1895 and was also to South America, visting Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Mendoza, Valparaiso and Iquique. The letters for this trip include a description of crossing the Andes by road and the effects of the altitude. Many of Jackson's letters refer to how much he misses his wife and children and to his daily routine, although he also regularly refers to concerns over his health and occasionally specifically refers to missing his physical relationship with Emily.

Most of the documents relate to 1 Solna Avenue (also named as Pimpernel, and later as Padva). This was later subject of a compulsory purchase order by the London County Council to form part of the Ashburton Estate. Some documents relate to the owners (the Roffey family builders) and their own residences at 46 Chartfield Avenue (formerly Chartfield Road), 26 Charlwood Avenue and 71B Dorking Rd Epsom; and to other property at 38 and 40 Charlwood Avenue.

The collection consists of an indenture of settlement on the marriage of Mrs M Field, 1866, and a copy of the will and probate of Mary Land following her death, 1884.

The collection is made up of minute books, a register of attendance, and a register of prizewinners at the annual flower shows. There is also a run of Monthly Bulletings produced by the society and a run of show schedules.

The collection includes probate records, tax records, correspondence and miscellaneous property records.

The collection is comprised of two parts. The first contains records relating to the administration of the school, such as a series of pupil records cards, accounts, staff handbooks and other material, as well as copies of the school magazine and Old Girls Association newsletters. The second part of the collection contains material belonging to a former pupil Eleanor Roberts, who attended the school between 1928-1936. The records include her school exercise books and diaries.

The collection is made up of papers belonging to the second headmaster of the school W.V. Wallace and his wife who also taught at the school. The papers include correspondence with the parents, a visitors book, exercise books and other material produced by the students, school newsletters and magazine, as well as papers and letters relating to the closure of the school in 1986.
