Papers of William James Entwistle collection, [1945-1947] comprising correspondence to and from Entwistle regarding the Chronicle of John I of Portugal and also includes a draft edition of the first 136 chapters,[1945-1947].

The correspondence section notably includes a letter, in Portuguese script, from Florentino dos Santos Cardoso, of Évora Public Library, to William James Entwistle, 1945, concerning the Chronica de El Rei D. João I by Fernão Lopes and a reproduction made and held by the Évora Public Library. Florentino dos Santos Cardoso asks Entwistle whether he would interetsed in purchasing a complete reproduction. Correspondence also includes a letter from Entwistle to Edgar Prestage (1881-1949), regarding the printing of the final chapters of Chronicle of John I of Portugal, 1945; letter from Entwistle to Prestage regarding the progress of the printing of a complete copy of Chronicle of John I of Portugal, suggesting the proofs are the 'pre first edition of book which will never appear', 1947.

The collection also includes a copy of the unpublished text of Chronicle of John I of Portugal [1945-1946], written by Fernão Lopes 1380-1459.

Papers relating to Sir John Eric Erichsen, 1881, comprising a volume listing the names of subscribers to the University College London Testimonial Fund for Sir John Eric Erichsen in 1881. The fund was to obtain a permanent memorial to acknowledge his services to the School of Medicine of University College, and to students of surgery in all parts of the world. Including a printed list of names and a letter inviting subscriptions to the fund, folded into the front of the volume.

Diaries and scrapbooks created by Ernest Hale as a record of each year from the date he met his (later) wife. The diaries begin in 1901-1902, each year begins on 30 September as that was the day they met. 1901-1902 was the fifth year of their relationship. There are also account books by Ernest Hale showing how much he spent each week, and an account book by Mrs Florence E Hale from 1910-1911 containing household accounts.

Personal correspondence and papers of Baron Ernst von Feuchtersleben, mainly relating to medical topics and to the Faculty of Medicine in Vienna, 1826-1858. The papers are mainly copies of medical texts with mansuscript annotations and copies of medical essays by him - some unpublished. Also, his case book 1836-1842. The records often relate to the Viennese Medical Faculty, his interest in medical education, and addresses given by him. The correspondence is primarily from medical colleagues in Austria and Germany.

Diaries of Margaret Evans, detailing a journey taken April-September 1883 with her husband the archaeologist and journalist, Arthur Evans, to Greece, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The first volume is entitled "Journal of Greek and Macedonian Travel" and the second "Journal of old Serbian and Bulgarian Travel".

Collection of title deeds, marriage settlements and other legal documents. Prescription books from 16 Jun 1745-25 Dec 1747 and 12 Nov1768-30 Nov 1769. The second volume contains entries for medicines prescribed for the Duke of Wellington, who was born at Mornington House, 24 Upper Merrion Street, Dublin on April 29, 1769. On the outside of the upper cover is a slip dated 17/8/1899, which states that the original earliest entry in the volume for 30 April 1769 has been cut out and framed for display in the shop at 49 Dawson Street, Dublin: another dated July 2 has also been cut out and 'given to Fielding Ould [?] Esqre' (i.e. Sir Fielding Ould, Dublin obstetrician, 1710-89). This manuscript still contains entries for the Countess of Mornington 2 May; 'Lord Mornington's young child', 4 May; 'The Countess of Mornington, the young child' 16 May; 'Lady Mornington, Master Frank Wesley, Young son', 25 May; 'The Hon. Master Arthur Wesley', 17 June. This last entry is also found for 2 July, 3 July, 6 July. According to the notice in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Wellington used the form 'Wesley' for his name until 1798. Produced in Dublin.

Royal pardon granted to Sarah Evans, previously convicted at Middlesex Sessions of the Peace, 13 Feb 1798, of petty larceny, and sentenced to transportation for seven years.

Records of J R Eve of Hitchin, valuers and surveyors, 1879-1932. The documents relate to the work carried out by the London office when assessing the value of property for rating purposes, and for the most part to the time when Herbert Trustram Eve was head of the firm. J.R. Eve and Sons were often employed by local authorities to undertake the re-evaluation of properties in their area. This collection includes material relating to work carried out for the Hendon Union and Parish of Harrow, the Borough of Paddington Assessment Committee and the Willesden Chamber of Commerce. Reference books form a significant part of the collection - they take the form of small notebooks bound in green card and appear to have been taken by the surveyor to the site of the properties which he was surveying. The books were used for making notes about the composition of buildings, acreage of land etc. They show the calculations made by the surveyor when assessing rateable values. The notes are sometimes rough, usually in pencil, and the dates are not always apparent. The collection also includes a selection of general cases which show other aspects of the firm's work.

Records of the Evelyn family estates in Deptford, including leases and agreements to lease for premises (including public houses the Admiral Rodney, The Ship and the White Hart) in New King Street, Grove Street, Mill Lane, Slaughterhouse Lane, and Czar Street; building agreements for Alexandra Street, Amersham Grove, Amersham Vale Road, Greenfield Place, Junction Road, Milton Court Road, Napier Street, Vansittart Street, Wardour Lane, Woodpecker Road, Evelyn Street and the Prince Street police station.

Map and plans of the estate of Sir Frederick Evelyn in Deptford.

Most of the documents relate to 1 Solna Avenue (also named as Pimpernel, and later as Padva). This was later subject of a compulsory purchase order by the London County Council to form part of the Ashburton Estate. Some documents relate to the owners (the Roffey family builders) and their own residences at 46 Chartfield Avenue (formerly Chartfield Road), 26 Charlwood Avenue and 71B Dorking Rd Epsom; and to other property at 38 and 40 Charlwood Avenue.

The collection consists of several leases concerning the shop and premises at 209 Upper Tooting Road. The premises was originally known as 20 The Parade.

The records include minute books, resolutions/declarations, reports/accounts, registers, letter books, ledgers, catalogues and brochures, journals and newsletters, historical notes, memorandum and articles of association/related papers, a signature book, and annual returns.

Lecture notes, case notes and abstracts of printed works compiled by Lyon Falkener in various professional positions, 1861-1948: most importantly as locum tenens at Claybury Asylum and the Western Fever Hospital, Fulham, and as Assistant House Surgeon at the Metropolitan Hospital, London. A few personal items, largely testimonials and photographs supplement these, together with medical papers by Falkener. Falkener's later career as a general practitioner at Icart, Guernsey, is represented by a collection of his prescriptions.

Records of Farebrother, Ellis and Company, chartered surveyors. Records relate mostly to the fee farm rent business. The rentals are generally very detailed, giving the names of the landlords of the fee farm rents and of successive tenants (ie owners) and occupiers of each property, together with a description of the property, its reference number and the amount of rent payable.

Papers of Roland Morris Fawcett, 1820-1827, comprising case notes, surgical notes and a commonplace book, 1822-1823; and lecture notes divided into sections titled 'Home', 'Hope', 'Murray', and 'Turner, Duncan and Alison', 1820-1827.

Papers relating to his military career, dated 1946-[1984], notably including typescript account of service of No 1 Independent Infantry Company, Malaya, 1941-1942, dated [1946-1984]; typescript account of experiences of 5 Bn, 14 Punjab Regt in Japanese POW camps, 1942-1945, including details of their work on the Burma Railway, written in [1946-1984]; typescript memoir of Fearon's military career, 1929-1947, written by his wife Diana Fearon in [1984].

'Consulti medici con varie annotazioni al Boeraavio [sic] estratte d'all' Aller [sic] e Wanswieten [sic]', the two volumes contain 300 'Consulti', many of which are apparently written by Felici or signed by him, usually dated from Terni, and giving his title 'Primo medico'. Other entries are probably copies, and are written by different hands, and assigned to various contemporary Italian physicians. The first volume has a title as given above, the second is lettered 'Consulti medici, Volume secondo'. Produced in Terni [etc.].
