Records of Fulham Manor including the papers of the clerks to the homage jury. This collection is complementary to the minute books preserved in DD/0015. All the correspondence in the papers is reflected in the minutes, and some comparable loose papers are also attached to the minutes. The papers do, however, in many instances provide greater detail, including some additional plans.

The decision to take the subject group as the basic unit, although unavoidable both because of the original order and the size of the collection, means that the list is in some ways summary. In particular:

1) The form of documents is not usually given. Most groups are composed primarily of correspondence.

2) The name of the party is only given when one, or occasionally two or three, persons or authorities are involved.

3) The party may or may not be the same person as a party named as the subject of the correspondence.

Records of the parish of Saint Peter, Hornsey, including registers of baptisms, marriages, banns of marriage, confirmations, and church services; papers relating to parish boundaries; papers relating to the advowson; Churchwardens' financial accounts; Parochial Church Council minutes; and Vestry minutes.

Records of the parish of Saint Paul, Chiswick, including registers of baptisms (1870-1953), marriages (1872-1964) and banns of marriage (1872-1913), as well as parish magazines, PCC minutes, preachers', readers' and collections registers, and service registers.

Records of William Bagshaw relating to two properties in which he had an interest, 42 Craven Street, Strand and 3 Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, and to a grave in Highgate Cemetery he purchased. One document shows him acting as a trustee. Two apprenticeship indentures have no obvious link with the rest of the documents, and may have come from another source.

Papers relating to the estates of the 4th Marquess of Salisbury comprising documents relating to property transfer, such as conveyances, mortgages, valuations, leases and abstracts of title. The properties mentioned are primarily in the St James's Park area, Westminster.

Papers relating to the London estate of the Marquess of Camden. The records consist almost exclusively of deeds and leases for property on the estate.

This collection comprises records of the William Cotton Estate (later the Bow Common Estate) and documents the acquisition and running of the Cotton estate from [1714]- 1936.. The records include marriage settlements, trustee appointments, wills and probates, legal case papers, administrative papers for the Limehouse estate, papers relating to property transactions, registers of properties, plans and maps, catalogue of wines for auction and register of leases. Some of the material concerns the Bow Common Estate Company Ltd.

Records of the Evelyn family estates in Deptford, including leases and agreements to lease for premises (including public houses the Admiral Rodney, The Ship and the White Hart) in New King Street, Grove Street, Mill Lane, Slaughterhouse Lane, and Czar Street; building agreements for Alexandra Street, Amersham Grove, Amersham Vale Road, Greenfield Place, Junction Road, Milton Court Road, Napier Street, Vansittart Street, Wardour Lane, Woodpecker Road, Evelyn Street and the Prince Street police station.

Papers relating to the Manor of Hampstead include court rolls and minutes, admissions and enfranchisements, licence books, plans and surveys, leases, papers relating to the Hampstead Heath Act, and family papers.

The collection includes a small number of documents relating to the family estates in Sussex and Essex.

Records relating to the Oxford Street Pantheon, comprising counterparts of the shares/leases sold by owner Philip Elias Twist to fund the building, 1774-1788. The leases include a room by room schedule of fixtures, fittings and furnishings, and marginal plans.

Records of the Spencer-Philip family; primarily papers relating to property transactions, including extracts from court rolls, abstracts of title, leases, plans and rents, for premises in the Manor of Stepney (Whitechapel, Stepney and Mile End) and in Essex. Also building leases and agreements relating to the King David's Fort Estate, St George's in the East, and papers and plans concerning construction of London and Blackwall railway through that estate; an Act of Parliament relating to roads in St Leonard Shoreditch; and family certificates (baptisms, marriages, burials). The collection includes a manorial custumal for the Manor of Stepney, 1587.

Records of the Three Mills Distillery, West Ham, 1765-1951, relating to property owned by the distillery, including copyholds of the Manor of West Ham; conveyances, easements, deeds, leases, abstract of title and mortgages; partnership deeds; legal papers relating to a proposed High Court Case (Chancery Division) relating to Three Mills Bridge; proposed Bills in Parliament relating to the River Lee Trust and Lee Conservancy Bills; solicitor's fees and expenses; surveyor's reports; financial accounts; insurance policies; plans and correspondence.

Records of Reader Brothers, builders, 1895-1980. The collection consists of three main types of record: There is administrative material which includes both the 'formal' records of Reader Brothers (Builders) Limited, such as the Memorandum and Articles of Association, Minutes of meetings, Registers of Members and records relating to shares; as well as various accounts ledgers, cash, petty cash and wages books, diaries and notebooks.

Secondly there are files, planning applications and other legal documents - some with plans attached.

Then there are books and other printed material related to the building trade and lastly there are plans and drawing of housing projects undertaken by the company.

Papers, 1575-1792, collected by the solicitors in the course of their work, comprising legal documents relating to properties mainly in Edgware, Hendon and Willesden. Documents include bargain and sales, bonds, quitclaim, mortgages, will and probate, covenants and final concords.

Records of the Mann family, comprising title deeds for premises in Isleworth.

Records of the de Burgh family relating to their estates in Hillingdon, Harmondsworth and West Drayton, including leases, releases, mortgages, letters, agreements and tax certificates. Also court rolls (courts baron) for the Manor of Colham and the Manor of West Drayton.

Records of the Canons Park Estate Company Limited, 1640-1929, including printed copy of the abstract of title of the Canons Park Estate Co to "all that capital messuage or mansion house called "Canons" with the park gardens, pleasure grounds, lodges, stables and outhouses, buildings, lands and hereditaments thereto belonging situate in the parishes of Little Stanmore and Great Stanmore", 1860-1898; lease of Canons Manor by Sir Robert Stone, 1640; various assignments of term and conveyances; letter from James Drake of Canons Park to the Parish Overseers suggesting that 100 poor children of the parish of Little Stanmore should be employed in the lace making industry, 1813; report on local charities by Committee appointed by Great Stanmore Parish Council to Sir John Fitzgerald, Chairman of Great Stanmore Parish Council, 1929; legal documents and accounts relating to land in Wirksworth, Stafford, Derbyshire and Lincoln.

Records of the Connop family of Enfield, chiefly title deeds to property that members of the family acquired. This was situated for the most part in Enfield and its neighbouring parishes in Hertfordshire and Essex, Hatfield, Waltham, Cheshunt and Chingford, and was consolidated by the first Newell Connop and his sons.

Much of the material is in original bundles, each consisting of the deeds for one property; many of these bundles conclude with a conveyance to Newell, and those that do not, pass by inheritance or marriage into the family. For that property which is not conveyed either to the Connops or any of their relations, one can only assume that later deeds have not been kept with the earlier ones.

In another way also, the collection is incomplete; in his History and Antiquities of Enfield Robinson states that at the time he was writing (1823) Newell Connop held the Manors of Durrants and Suffolks. There is nothing in the collection at all relating to Suffolks, and although there is a schedule of the deeds for Durrants, drawn up in 1832 (ACC/0801/1126), there are no actual deeds. Nor are there any for Grapes Farm, stated by Robinson to be the main manor farm.

Deeds do exist however for the small manor of Elsings or Norris' farm, which Newell bought in 1804 (ACC/0801/0283-0305). There is also a survey of all Newell Connop's land in Enfield taken in 1804, which unfortunately does not now include a map, and a book of maps each beautifully drawn and coloured of his Essex estates 1803-1814 (ACC/0801/1045-1046). One of the most interesting items among the Enfield deeds is a sales particular for the Forty Hall and Manor of Worcester estate of Eliab Breton in 1787 which includes as Lot 22 the old royal palace of Elizabeth, noting that it stands in a good position for building and the palace when demolished would provide much building material. (ACC/0801/0043).

The collection also includes property transactions, sale particulars and related papers, family papers and wills.

Papers of the Plumer family relating to property in Edgware and the Canons estate in Little Stanmore.

Papers of the Tatem family relating to the Weir Hall estate, Edmonton. The documents relate mainly to the partial sale of the estate in the 19th Century and gradual urban development in the early 20th century.

Records of the Bateman family relating to their property in Ealing, Elbow Lane (later Little College Street) in the City of London, Tottenham; and out of London in Chesham, Buckinghamshire; and Kimberworth, Yorkshire (this latter including coal mines).

Title deeds for property in Edmonton owned by the Bowles family, 1786-1835; property in Highgate owned by the Gould family, 1724-1795; and properties in Ashford, Stanwell, Staines, Enfield, Hornsey and Pinner, 1684-1885.
