His letters cover his whole career, 1833 to 1854, and have been organized by his mother, together with newspaper cuttings relating mainly to the China War. In addition, there is a sketch book which includes several ships' portraits and places Meynell visited, from China to the South Atlantic.

The papers include correspondence on the voyage of the ROSARIO; official correspondence, 1886 to 1889, 1892 to 1893; papers relating to the collisions in which Markham was involved; letters and papers on Antarctic exploration and on Markham's literary work. Finally, there is Markham's semi-official and private correspondence throughout his career. This includes letters from his cousin Sir Clements Markham (1830-1916).

There are official and private logs, 1794 to 1811, 1827 to 1834 and 1841 to 1852; official letterbooks, 1799 to 1834, and order books, 1795 to 1834, 1841 to 1857, and loose papers relating to his commands. Parker's personal papers include official service documents, his letters home, and his correspondence which includes letters from Sir James Graham (1792-1861), 1831-1845, Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy (1769-1839), 1831 to 1834, Gilbert Elliot, 2nd Earl of Minto 1841 to 1848, and Admiral Sir Edmund Lyons (1790-1858), 1845 to 1854. There is a log of a Spanish ship captured by Parker in 1794 and a register of lading of Nuestra Senora de la Esperanza, captured in 1804. The collection also contains letters written to Dr Andrew Baird by Earl St. Vincent. The final section, loaned in 1974, consists of two series of letters. The first consists of those received by Earl St. Vincent, 1791 to 1821, and includes some from Lord Nelson, 1796 to 1804, and the second, letters to Parker, including Nelson letters, 1803 to 1805.

The collection consists of Section A: a little personal correspondence, papers, articles, speeches and lectures by Louisa Martindale, and some personal material including notes on the glaucoma which eventually blinded her, 1872-1960; and Section B: papers concerning the Medical Women's International Association (founded 1919) of which Miss Martindale was President from 1937 to 1947. As well as her own correspondence in this capacity, 1937-1946, there is one file of the correspondence of Mme Montreuil-Strauss, Secretary of the Medical Women's International Association at his period. (Louisa Martindale destroyed the vast bulk of her case records at the time of her retirement from practice around 1950, those remaining were destroyed by her executors after her death).

Sin títuloJournal by Dr Forrest Leon Loveland, general practitioner, Topeka, Kansas, documenting a trip he made to Europe with his wife Helen, 29 Jul 1931-23 Dec 1931. The journal describes the pair's travels through England, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary and, in particular, Austria and Italy. The main focus of the trip was Vienna, Austria, where the Lovelands stayed from 29 Aug to 27 Nov 1931. Immediately on arrival Dr Loveland joined the American Medical Association of Vienna and began attending medical classes at Vienna University, including Dr Hermann Chiari's pathology class. Numerous photographs, postcards, tickets, newscuttings, maps, souvenirs etc. are pasted into the volume, and loose items were inserted between the pages up to 1949.
