Papers of Cecil Henry Desch consist of correspondence (CHD/1) to and from various recipients, including Henry Edward Armstrong, John Oliver Arnold, Henry Balfour, Herbert John Fleure, Henri Frankfort, John Vernon Harrison, Sir John Linton Myers and Harold John Edward Peake; mainly relating to geology, archaeology, metallurgy and honours.

Manuscript volume, [1522-1566], containing a description of the offices of the King's Remembrancer's and Lord Chamberlain's Departments of the Upper Exchequer, and an account of their duties, with an enumeration of grudges and complaints and a suggestion of remedies for them. A second memorandum, possibly written between 1531 and 1533, discusses the problems of financial administration.

Manuscript volume containing a list of twelve different castes of inhabitants of Bombay, India, 1828, with particulars of their trades, customs, countries, and food, with a few remarks on the names of their priests, holidays, dress, and marriage and burial customs.

Letters and papers of René Desgenettes, 1793-1813, mainly official orders relating to medical services in the French army in Egypt, of which he was physician in chief. With a few letters from Desgenettes to his wife. The letters and papers concerning the Egyptian campaign complement Desgenettes' own published account, Histoire médicale de l'Armée d'Orient (Paris, 1802), which was largely compiled from copies of his out-letters.

The archive consists of letters from Charlotte Despard to Charles Wilson (1920-1932) ; photograph of Mrs Wilson (c. 1920); and a diary of a trip to the USSR (1930).

The letters cover the periods 1920-1922 and 1930-1932, and were written to Mr Charles Wilson of Willington, County Durham, Mr Wilson was a political activist who worked with the Durham miners, and Mrs Despard lectured to his students in 1921 and 1930. In the letters Mrs Despard refers to Mr Wilson's poetry; she also sent him a poem that she had written. She refers to her own political activities, in Ireland, lecturing for the Labour Party against British Policy in India. She also mentions several of the illnesses that were beginning to restrict severely such activities.

At the end is a 'Tractatus de mundi sphaera (150 pp.) by Desperiers.

Papers of the Deutscher Fichte-Bund, [1930-1939], comprising propaganda pamphlets entitled 'The Truth about Jews in Germany' and 'Jewry and Penal Punishment' and correspondence of Thomas Kessemeier, Propagandaleiter I of the Deutsche Fichte-Bund relating to distribution of propaganda and D Hoerke, organising secretary of Bund zur Pflege personlicher Freundschaften mit Auslandern.

The bulk of this microfilm collection consists of material emanating from the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF), 1933-1939. Included are documents marked 'secret' which record the prevailing views within the Deutsche Arbeitsfront on the extent of industrial action in the Third Reich and other issues relating to industrial relations. There is also a considerable amount of correspondence from the DAF to the company Wilhem Edel, margarine manufacturers, covering a variety of matters related to worker/employee relations. In addition there are number of publications and periodicals on the subject.

Those relating to vessels owned, chartered and loaded by the company include: copies of registers of vessels, 1859 to 1897; voyage books, 1883-1917; lists of sailing ships and steamers loaded by Devitt and Moore, 1836 to 1926 and F Green and Co, 1839 to 1918; a log book of the Port Jackson, 1908 to 1909; the log books of the Medway, 1912 to 1913, 1915 to 1916 and one log book of the St George, 1920 to 1921. The business records include: ledgers, 1903 to 1907, 1914 to 1921; cash books and journals, 1910 to 1914 and letterbooks, 1911, 1916 to 1920. the records relating to officers and cadets include lists of ship's officers and cadets, 1864 to 1916; registers of apprentices 1868 to 1899, 1902 to 1903, 1906 to 1917; and registers of midshipmen, 1897 to 1917. In addition there are three volumes of newspaper clippings, 1904 to 1918, note books, miscellaneous correspondence and papers relating to the history of the company, plans of vessels, photographs and sailing schedules.

This collection consists predominantly of notes, correspondence, press cuttings and printed matter on subjects such as British industries (including aviation, tin, steel, cotton and coal), prices and wages, restrictive practices, and economic development overseas. The collection also contains some personal papers including bank books and university notebooks.

Papers of the Devonshire Square (Particular) Baptist Church and predecessor church the Turners' Hall meeting. The records comprise memoranda and constitutional documents, minutes, records of membership and attendance, and financial material. They were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff.

Petavel papers - St Louis exhibition 1904, relates to the reproduction of Dewar's low temperature work for the exhibition with notes on the exhibition. (DVII) War work 1915-1918, includes letter and papers on work for the war effort, World War One.

Papers of Kenneth Dewar, consisting mainly of letters received, including some from Admiral Sir Herbert Richmond (q.v.) and drafts and memoranda relating to Dewar's Admiralty service, there being little official or other correspondence relating to his career afloat. Private and family letters, and papers concerning the court-martial arising out of the Royal Oak affair, were presented subject to certain conditions and access to them remains restricted. There are also diaries kept for both the First and Second World Wars and official service documents.

Private papers of Deyermond, Alan (1932-2009), Professor of medieval Hispanic literature, covering the whole course of his career from his undergraduate education at Oxford to his relationship with the British Academy in addition to his academic career at Westfield and then later at Queen Mary and Westfield and Queen Mary, University of London. Includes private correspondence with academic colleagues and graduate students in the UK and overseas, principally Spain and the USA and academic papers and correspondence relating to College and learned society business, publication series and journals, conference organisation, and Deyermond's own research articles and books, c 1950s-2009.

Papers of Sir Eustace Tennyson D'Eyncourt. The majority are loose papers, 1898 to 1939. Many are copies of official memoranda on particular ships, the development of the tank and on general topics, while there are subject files of correspondence for the post-1924 period.

Records of D.H. Evans, general drapers and silk mercers, comprising a prospectus from 1894 and sales particulars relating to premises in Armadale Road, Fulham, 1899.

Manuscript volume with contents dating from the 14th and 15th centuries, comprising a collection of 20 miscellaneous treatises, including 'Dyalethyca', with a commentary and exercise on the Summulae logicorum of Petrus Hispanus and other lectures and exercises in logic of Petrus Zech, alias De Pulka, of the University of Vienna, written by Johannes Sintram at Ulm and dated 1405; other treatises on liturgical and astrological subjects, including works by Johannes De Sacro Bosco; calendars; questions on canon law; verses. The pastedowns are from a 14th-century service book.

Papers of Royer Mylius Dick, containing information on practically every aspect of Dick's career, from Royal Naval College to retirement and beyond. This is illustrated with letters, orders, reports, photographs, ephemera, etc, relating to different aspects of a varied career. Present in the collection are letters to Dick from Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham, Earl Mountbatten of Burma and President Eisenhower. There is also material relating to the preservation of HMS Belfast through the work of the HMS Belfast Trust and transcripts of a series of interviews with Dick, recorded at the National Maritime Museum in 1986.

The collection consists of records relating to the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church and other German Churches in London, 1852-1998: Saint Georg (Alie Street, London E1), Saint Paul (Goulston Street, London E1), Camberwell Church (Denmark Hill SE5), Saint Marien (Sandwich Street, WC1) and Brighton Church. The greater part of the collection originated from Pastor Dr Julius Rieger (reponsible for the parish 1945-1953) and Pastor Wallman who assisted Rieger from 1951. The records also include the archives of the Camberwell Church which closed in 1914.

The College records are only a part of the English Provincial Archive of the Society of the Sacred Heart, which contains a large collection of archival material relating to convents, colleges and training schools founded by the Society. These records include papers of Cannington Priory Church and Convent, [1843-1975]; the convent at Roscrea, Ireland, [1842-1884], the first foundation in the British Isles; the convent at Woldingham, Roehampton, [1842-1992], including material relating to Woldingham School; the convent at West Hill, Wandsworth, 1874-1975, including papers relating to attached schools; the convent in St Charles' Square, 1905-1946, and Roehampton, 1946-1992, including papers relating to attached schools, [1906-1994]; the convent at Hammersmith, [1672-1994], including papers of the attached schools; the convents at Blackheath and Goodrington, [1903-1975], and Leamington, [1913]; the convent at Bonchurch, [1904-1975]; the convent at Tunbridge Wells, [1915-1973], with material relating to the training school; the convent at Oxford, [1902-1972]; the convent at Fenham, Newcastle, [1828-1998], including a history of the site and material concerning the attached schools and St Mary's Training College; and papers relating to small communities at Gateshead, Burnham, Bexhill, Blyth and Southall, [1984-2000].
