Records of the Nation Life and General Assurance Company Ltd, also known as Fordham Life and General Assurance Company Ltd, 1925-1974. This collection comprises 18 minute books, the bulk of which record the proceedings of Board of Directors meetings which were usually held monthly. Two of these volumes are described as private minute books, and record discussions at board meetings of matters such as directors' salaries. Two volumes record the minutes of annual and extraordinary general meetings.

Declaration of Trust Deed for a property in White Horse Alley near Cow Cross in St Sepulchre, Middlesex, 16 Mar 1778; with a transcript of the deed made in 1988.

The records consist of issues of TOT magazines, 1930, and a souvenir programme of a rugby match between London Underground Railways and the Union Sportive du Metropolitain of Paris, 1930.

Letter from Charles Roach Smith, FSA (1807-1890), antiquary, to Frederick William Fairholt, FSA (1814-1866), engraver and antiquary; referring to the progress of copying Faussett (Inventorium Sepulchrale), published 1859, and asking for copy (sketch?) of Roman altar at Doncaster.

Papers, 1901-1932, collected by the solicitors in the course of their work, comprising deeds and legal documents relating to 37 (formerly 10) Courtfield Garden, Castle Hill, Ealing; including leases, assignments, mortgages and transfers of mortgages.

Records of the Tailors Benevolent Institution. Despite a few gaps in the minute books, the most regrettable being the absence of the first minute book, the records give a clear picture of the development of a trade benevolent enterprise. The gaps are in part compensated for by the survival of accounts and cash books from the foundation of the institution and by a diary for 1837 belonging probably to the first secretary. The records are in good condition.

Records of the Bow Common Estate Company, 1901-1928, including memorandum and articles of association; sales catalogues; sales books; sales completion statements; bundle of papers and correspondence regarding Company's appeal against assessment for Corporation Profits Tax; statement of facts, history of Company and argument for its status as a holding rather than a trading company and therefore not liable for tax; legal advice relating to the tax status of the company and file of papers of Clerk W.W.T. Worth, including draft title deeds to properties, mortgages and rents, and details of sales.

Records of the Polytechnic Harriers, cross country running and athletics club. The collection comprises records relating to the administration of the club as well as scrapbooks, photographs and publications. These highlight the club's achievements and also reveal the tireless work of individuals that was necessary to run such a successful club and especially annual events such as the "Poly Marathon" and "The Kinniard Trophy". In addition to this they provide an interesting insight into how athletics has developed over the last one hundred years.

Papers, 1893-1959, collected by the solicitors in the course of their work, comprising deeds and legal documents relating to 27 Northolme Road, Highbury, Islington; including conveyance, mortgage, abstracts of title, assignment of leasehold and copy of will.

Records of Archbishop Tenison's Grammar School (formerly known as Archbishop Tenison's Secondary School for Boys). Most important are the Trustees' and Governors' meetings minutes 1847-1953 (ref: Acc/2692/17-19). An unusual survival has been a number of evacuation records, which do not exist for many schools in London (ref: Acc/2692/142-148). Illustrations of the school and its life are present in a volume of plans of the school site at Kennington Oval dated 1927 (by A.H.R. Tenison, Architect, ref: Acc/2692/154), and in the large collection of photographs (ref: Acc/2692/155-205). Concerning the sale of the library in 1861 is a Catalogue from Sotheby's which records the prices fetched at auction for individual books (ref: Acc/2692/209). A history of the school, not entirely accurate, was written in 1928 and a transcript survives (ref: Acc/2692/240).

Records of the Business Equipment Trade Association (BETA) and related organisations. The collection includes a complete run of 27 volumes of council minutes, from July 1951 to December 1980. The minutes reflect the association's preoccupation with its role as a public relations body, and with issues affecting its membership, such as VAT or decimalisation. Issues discussed reflect the changing commercial climate, illustrating the increased use of microelectronic technology, although individual products are seldom mentioned unless they are the subject of a dispute. Considerable time is also given over to general internal and administrative matters, and to the continued examination of BETA's aims and activities. Two divisional minute books provide a taste of the activities of the association's sections. Council working papers and correspondence include duplicate minutes of council meetings, reports to council on executive committee meetings, press cuttings, and correspondence relating to association luncheons. A sample of the association's journal is also included.

Records of the United Synagogue's Head Office, including minutes, agendas, presented papers, printed annual reports and accounts, byelaws and standing orders, papers relating to property, letter books and correspondence, financial accounts, insurance papers, membership papers, records relating to staff, administrative records, photographs, press cuttings, orders of service, Aubrey Newman's files, and papers relating to Soviet Jewry. This material has been catalogued in 20 sub-fonds (ACC/2712/01 to ACC/2712/20).

Also included in this collection are records of the individual member synagogues; these comprise mainly membership records, but there are also administrative and financial records for some synagogues. Records of bodies connected with the United Synagogue to a greater or lesser extent are also included in this collection, such as the Office of the Chief Rabbi, London Beth Din and Beth Hamedrash, the Kashrut Commission and various Jewish friendly societies and charities. The United Synagogue's close links with Anglo-Jewish education are also represented in the collection, including records of individual schools such as the Jews' Free School.
