Papers of Sir Stephen Tallents, mainly relating to to his role as Secretary of the Empire Marketing Board (EMB), including files on its origins, activities (including the 1931 'Buy British' campaign, the EMB film unit, and liaison with the Commonwealth Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Melbourne, Australia), administration and break-up. These files include reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda. There are also files containing EMB publications and press cuttings. Most of the material not directly related to EMB business consists of papers related to draft works by Tallents, particularly his book on the EMB, Empire Experiment; these files include original papers from the EMB period, 1926-1933, and draft chapters, notes and correspondence (mainly 1940s). The collection comprises biographical material on Burhop's interest in furthering rapprochement between East and West, principally relating to the 'passport case' when, owing to Burhop's involvement in the atomic energy project in 1944-1945, the Foreign Office withdrew his passport on the eve of a visit to the Soviet Union in 1951, causing a libel case arising from his treatment by the press; papers relating to the award of the Lenin Peace Prize to Burhop in 1972; correspondence on the possible nomination of Bertrand Russell for the World Peace Council's International Peace Prize, 1957; and documentation of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, largely the first conference of 1957, including the role of the World Federation of Scientific Workers in its organisation, and manuscript notes of the proceedings. There are no records of his scientific research or scientific correspondence.

Complete transcripts of 38 filmed interviews concerning events leading up to the 9 Nov 1989 when the border between the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) and the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) was opened, and the demolition of the Berlin Wall began. The interviews were recorded for the production of the television documentary Fall of the Wall, which was broadcast in 1994. The collection also includes programme scripts and press releases for each of the hour long documentary episodes titled 'A Hole in the Wall' and 'The Fatal Error'.

MSS.5039-5085 consist of material related closely to various published works on medical history and art history by Witkowski: typescript and holograph drafts, annotated published material, etc. Within this block of material, MSS.5057-5062 consist of a detailed critique of Folie de l'Empereur by Augustin Cabanès (1862-1928), consisting of heavily annotated copies of the published work. Also worth noting are MSS.5063-5064, copies of Witkowski's Comment j'ai appris l'Histoire Sainte, a Rabelaisian and satirical anti-clerical history. Finally, MSS.5086-5088, written under the pseudonym "Docteur Clam", comprise travel writings, recording travels in Italy, Turkey, Romania and Hungary, in 1901 (MS.5086); Egypt, in 1901-1902 (MS.5087); and Italy, in 1905 (MS.5088).

'The Indian Medical Service: a history of its medical research 1600-1947': unpublished manuscript and draft chapters. This history was apparently undertaken by Colonel Mulligan under the auspices of the Wellcome Trust, with a view to publication. Colonel Mulligan died in 1982 and his work was finished and prepared for publication by Colonel C.W.A. Searle, but was never published.
