These papers relate primarily to Robin Tanner's work in education and not to his activities as an artist and etcher. They include lectures, addresses and conference papers together with photographs of accompanying displays, 1950s-1980s; a small group of papers relating to individual schools, 1930s-1980s; some publications; a little correspondence, mainly from the 1960s-1980s; slides of works by young people taught by Tanner in the 1930s; and personalia, including poetry and prose anthologies, some neckties and a cassette recording of a talk by Heather Tanner and Dietrich Hanff on 'Life in the Tanner Household'.

Papers of Harry Alfred Rée, comprising a small amount of very general correspondence, most dating from 1969-1974; letters to the press, 1964-1976; lectures, including to students at the University of York and to teachers' associations; addresses and scripts of broadcasts, 1950s-1970s; articles, reviews and other writings, 1940s-1970s. The collection also includes a substantial amount of material relating to Henry Morris and his contemporaries. Some of this is original material, 1920s-1960s, such as correspondence with Morris; writings, broadcasts and speeches by Morris; press cuttings and other biographical material; printed materials relating to the village colleges; photographs; audio- and video-tapes. The remainder comprises material generated by Rée as a result of his research on Morris, 1969-1980s, including correspondence with friends and colleagues of Morris and drafts of chapters for an edited volume of Morris's writings.

Papers of Horace Panting, mainly associated with school sport, including handbooks and programmes relating to football, cricket, boxing and swimming, 1912-1980s. Also some papers from Horace Panting's time as a student at the Institute of Education, University of London, 1934-1935 and a handwritten diary relating to the evacuation of Holborn Boy's School to Crudwell, Wiltshire, during World War Two.

Manuscript notes from an unidentified teacher training college, including 'Course of lectures for 1st years', on 'principles of teaching'; 'principles applied to methods'; 'methods of teaching'; 'class teaching'; 'collective teaching'; 'chief tests of efficient teaching' in different subject areas; 'questions to test the efficiency of a school' on a range of subjects including furniture, discipline, subjects of instruction and methods of teaching in different subjects. Also includes 'Heads of lectures for students of the second year' and 'Notes of lessons on how a lesson should be prepared' and sample lessons including:'Notes of a lesson on the whale'; 'The uses of the participle'; 'The root of man'; 'Division of fractions'. Also enclosed are separate notes on 'Registration, organization and methods as effected by the Revised Code'. It is unclear whether these notes were compiled by a lecturer or a student.

Extensive collection of personal and working papers reflecting many aspects of Joseph Lauwerys' varied career, including science education, educational broadcasting, international co-operation and understanding and comparative education. They include correspondence files, mostly dating from the late 1940s onwards; lecture notes, articles, conference papers and other published and unpublished writings; files relating to societies, associations and organisations; material about post-War reconstruction and the founding of UNESCO; files relating to specific overseas visits and tours; and collected papers on the educational conditions in many different countries.
