The papers in this collection comprise official documentation issued by the authorities in New Spain (specifically, in Mexico). They include the appointment of José Gracida y Bernal (1760?-1815) as one of the Protomedicatos who were in charge of medical matters in New Spain (WMS/Amer.96); three certificates issued by Protomedicatos giving individuals licence to practice medicine (WMS/Amer.51, 64 and 97); a copy of a notice suspending quarantine procedures in the city of Mexico during the fever epidemic of 1813 (WMS/Amer.3); and a order authorising payment to F.X. de Balmis (1753-1819) for work on indigenous plants in the treatment of syphilis (WMS/Amer.62).

Minutes of a meeting held between Ing. Georg Vogel and Major Kusmin, 1945, concerning the repatriation of some Czech nationals which Kusmin authorised on receipt of medical certificates and a statement that they are free of lice. The remaining minutes deal with applications for food and clothing and the need for more disinfectors following the removal of the Russian ones.

Papers of Norman Lace Corkill, c1939-1965 (mostly undated), consisting of a collection of articles by other authors used by Corkill in his work with particular reference to the geography and health of the Arabian area; articles and notes by Corkill concerning nutrition, diet, vitamin deficiency, and disorders and diseases caused by poor nutrition; detailed surveys and breakdown of nutritional content of the local diet and household expenditure on food; reports and documentation on WHO Project Iran, and the Aden Protectorate Health Service; detailed reports by Corkill on his examination of Prisoner of War camps in the Sudan, World War Two and a study of the Nuba community. Also includes correspondence and research relating to a study of folk medicine in Iran carried out in 1966 and nutrition surveys of Iran.
