The records deposited include only a small proportion of the total bulk of records, but enough to represent the geographical location of the estates and the types of housing provided. The records consist of three deed books, a property register, ledgers and several plans. The plans particularly relate to developments in Leyton and Canning Town.

The earliest registers in the collection, a register of Estates 1863-1896 is of particular interest as it includes estate accounts, block plans, mortality rates and coloured plans of dwelling type (c.1870). The records relating to Greencoat Properties Ltd and The Soho, Clerkenwell and General Industrial Dwellings Company Ltd include Directors Annual Reports and Accounts 1885-1976. The only register to name tenants is the Deposit Account Register, 1935-1970.

The photographs were taken by Hester Mallin and colleagues.

The plans cover only parts of the area north of the River Thames. There are no sheets for areas south of the Thames. A later deposit consisted of staff magazines and photographs for both the North Thames Gas Board and the South Eastern Gas Board.

The collection includes minutes of Clapham Labour Party's executive committee and general management committee as well as information on borough and LCC elections. The correspondence referring to Dr MacGregor Reid (President of the Clapham Labour Party in 1926, d 1946), his alleged attack on other Labour and Socialist Parties and ensuing enquiry is especially engaging. However, the records also mention the Battersea Division and contain correspondence of the London Labour Party and national Labour Party. Of particular note are the official Labour Party posters reflecting policy on topics such as farming, coal strikes and the family and its publications about issues such as refugees, Soviet wartime policy and Palestinians in Israel.
