This series contains Post Office documentation relating to the lifespan of Girobank, from its setting up until after its sale. Documentation takes the form of annual reports, organisational reviews, correspondence with other branches of the Post Office and with external bidders, press releases and clippings, press briefings, minutes of committees representing the Girobank sale or other businesses within Royal Mail, correspondence with Government officials and departments, promotional material, specimen samples of stationery, staff training leaflets and analytical studies. This series also takes into account the impact of the sale of Girobank on Post Office Counters Ltd and charts subsequent Post Office events during the 1990s.

Papers of the Pellagra Investigation Committee, 1910, relate to the establishment of the Committee and resourcing of funds for the facilitation of Dr Louis Sambon's research trip to Italy. The collection notably comprises correspondence between Pietro J Michelli, Secretary of the Seamen's Hospital Society and James Cantlie and other members of the Committee regarding donations and funds, 1910; 'Pellagra Investigation Committee', article including a list of committee members, outlining the intentions of the committee, 1910; printed list of donations received, 1910, and a handwritten list of funds received in cash, guarantees made and funds received from the Colonial Office, [1910].

Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' minute books, 1929-1987, containing the minutes of various committees and working parties of the College, as well as joint committees and working parties of the College with outside bodies. Each volume contains the minutes, frequently signed by the chairman, of two or more committees of roughly the same period.

Records of the Clerk of the Peace for the Middlesex Quarter Sessions of the Peace, 1751-1965. The records include: accounts of Clerks fees (MC/F); registration of documents (MC/R); records of special sessions (MC/X); taxation of lawyers fees (MC/T); Home Office returns (MC/HO); standing orders (MC/SO); papers of the Rotation Committee (MC/SJ); personal papers of Richard Nicholson, a Nineteenth Century Clerk (MC/Z); and correspondence and papers of the Accounts Committee (MC/C). Some of the material is uncatalogued.

Records of the Middlesex Quarter Sessions relating to local administration, 1590-1930. The number of series in MA reveals the wide scope of county administration dealt with at the sessions. A lot of the records date from the nineteenth century when there was an increase in central attempts at the regulation of many aspects of everyday life. MA/W deals with silk weavers' wage rates; MA/MW covers the work of Inspectors of Weights and Measures; MA/RS are reports from county committees and officers; MA/MS deal with military carriage rates; MA/S is concerned with the building and maintenance of the county's sessions houses; MA/MD covers the work of Inspectors of Animal Diseases; MA/C covers the work of the sessions' committees; MA/G is concerned with the building and maintenance of the county's prisons; MA/GS, likewise for Feltham Industrial School; MA/DCP are plans of county properties; MA/D and MA/DC contain deeds and contracts for county properties; MA/B are Bridge Committee papers; MA/A is concerned with the building and maintenance of the county's lunatic asylums; and MA/MN deals with military and naval recruitment in the county.

Records of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' External Affairs Committee, 1932-1950, comprising correspondence and related papers covering a wide variety of issues reflecting the Committee's broad terms of reference, for example: maternity hospitals, midwifery, female circumcision, pregnancy in wartime, maternal mortality and nutrition in pregnancy. It should be noted however, that much of the material included in the series appears to have been placed here in error simply because it relates to the external affairs of the College. As well as containing records of the External Affairs Committee, this fonds also has records related to the general external affairs of the college.
