        History

        Thomas Scattergood was a distinguished surgeon and physician of Leeds, and lectured on chemistry and forensic medicine at the Medical School. In 1884 he became the first Dean of the Medical Faculty when the Yorkshire College was amalgamated with the Medical School, a post which he retained for the rest of his life. [Cf.
