The Barbican Horticultural Society was established in 1980. It was founded to provide information and practical help to Barbican residents. It also holds and participates in competitions and organises visits to gardens in the London area.

The Barbican Horticultural Society was established in 1980. It was founded to provide information and practical help to Barbican residents. It also holds and participates in competitions and organises visits to gardens in the London area.

The Society's archives were deposited in the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library by the Society in January 1992. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.

Records of the Barbican Horticultural Society, mainly comprising correspondence files, but also including a copy of the constitution of the Society, members' returns, and leaflets. They were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff in 1992.

THE RECORDS ARE SUBJECT TO A 30 YEAR CLOSURE PERIOD. Access to records less than 30 years old should be sought from the Society (contact details may be obtained from staff).
