Alan Cawley was a Geological Surveyor in the Department of Lands and Mines, Tanganika in late 1930s and became a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, 1936-1949.

Donated by Mrs B H Cawley (widow), 1938.

Papers of Alan Cawley, comprise survey notes on his ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro in 1938; notes on measuring altitude and a typescript report by P Wilkinson on the vulanicity of the mountain, 1954.
