Biographical history

The Charitable Association was born out of the need for those without good financial security to enter into loan agreements without the penalty of unreasonably high interest rates. The Association put into practice the charter licensed to them by George I in 1725.

A history, c1826, and copies of three Royal Licences permitting it to enlarge its stock. Both the history and the licenses are in the same hand.

Access to the items in the collection is unrestricted for the purpose of private study and personal research within the controlled environment and restrictions of the Library's Palaeography Room.
