The Chartered Accountants' Benevolent Association was founded in 1886 to 'provide for the relief of necessitous persons who are or have been members of either ICAEW or the former Society of Incorporated Accountants and their dependents'.

It was based at Moorgate Place (1886-1965), City House, 56-66 Goswell Road (1965-c.1982) and 301 Salisbury House, London Wall (c.1982-2001). In 2001 it moved to 3 Cottesbrooke Park, Heartlands, Daventry.

The records were given by C.A.B.A. to the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library in 2001 (except the board minutes, Ms 31824, which were a deposit). They were catalogued by a member of Guildhall Library staff in 2001. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.

Records of the Chartered Accountants' Benevolent Association comprising: minutes, 1886-1975 (Ms 31824); financial records, 1886-1984 (Ms 31825-9); and minute book of the Chartered Accountants' Charities Limited, 1955-64 (Ms 31830).
