Chest Components Limited was registered in 1941 as a private company. It was formed by Harrisons and Crosfield Limited (CLC/B/112) and other members of the Plywood Chest Association (CLC/B/179) to manufacture fittings for plywood tea chests in Colombo. For historical notes concerning shareholdings in the Company see Ms 37392.

The records of Harrisons and Crosfield and its subsidiary and secretarial companies were transferred to Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section between 1990 and 1998. The records were presented as a gift to the Library, except the minute books of some subsidiary companies which are held as a deposit. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.

Records of Chest Components Limited, manufacturers of plywood chests, including articles of association; board minute book; papers relating to annual general meetings; statements of manufacturing, trading, and profit and loss accounts; and correspondence with other Harrisons and Crosfield offices.
