Biographical history
The Club de Dakar was founded on 2-3 December 1974 as a French initiative to improve industrial relations between western industries and Francophone African countries. It was instigated by Mohammed T. Diawara (later President of the Club), Minister for Planning, Ivory Coast. Following conferences in Birmingham in 1978, a British branch was established and interests were expanded to include Anglophone African countries. It seems that the Club de Dakar ceased its activities in c1988.

Transferred to SOAS shortly after the Club de Dakar ceased its activities in 1988.

The papers have been arranged into the following sections: files created by William Black-Campbell, a member of the Club de Dakar; Club de Dakar membership lists; Club de Dakar conference and meeting papers; Club de Dakar reports and accounts; Club de Dakar discussion papers; other papers; and publications. Within each section, papers have been arranged chronologically.

No publication without written permission. Apply to archivist in the first instance.
The majority of the papers are in French, with some material in English.
