Archival history

The project was initiated at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1992-1993. It was originally jointly run by Donald Smith, the College's slide curator and the late Stacey Billups, and is now solely co-ordinated by the Slide Curator Donald Smith. The scheme is run on a subscription basis providing sets of contemporary fine art slides from exhibitions in London for educational and research use.

The project was initiated at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 1992-1993. 35mm slides of contemporary art images collected by Chelsea College of Art & Design, 1992-2002, photographed by Donald Smith or sourced from previously inaccessible private gallery and artist archives, comprising work by artists including Anish Kapoor, Richard Deacon, Jeff Koons, Damien Hurst, Gillian Wearing and Cindy Sherman.

Approximately 300 slides per year.

The slides are arranged chronologically.
