Physiologist; Nobel laureate.
This material was acquired by the Wellcome Institute Library from various sources over a period of time. PP/HHD/1 was purchased in 1935. PP/HHD/12-23 were presented to the Library by Dale in 1954. PP/HHD/10 was presented by the BBC in 1963. The notebooks (PP/HHD/2-7), the introductory notes to Adventures in Physiology, the notes on his brother and the obituary by F H K Green were presented separately during 1970, by donor or donors unknown. All these items were transferred to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre in October 1980. PP/HHD was discovered among the papers of the former Director of the Institute, Dr E Ashworth Underwood. Further material (PP/HHD/25-27) was transferred to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre from the Autograph Letters collection in February 1988 and October 1990.
