Dobell was a distinguished protozoologist and parasitologist and was elected FRS in 1918. He was appointed protozoologist to the Medical Research Council in the following year.

Presented in two accessions by Mrs. Dobell, 1951 and 1958 and presented by Dr. Neale, 1958.

Clifford Dobell's personal papers, including protozoology drawings, his reviews of books, original plates and drawings for Dobell's scientific papers. Also, Dobell's papers relating to Giovanni Battista Grassi (1854-1925) and his claim to priority in the discovery of the mode of transmission of malaria.

MSS.2197-2200 comprise protozoology material. MSS.6041-6045 relate to Giovanni Battista Grassi.

The papers are available subject to the usual conditions of access to Archives and Manuscripts material, after the completion of a Reader's Undertaking.
