Born 1916; qualified in medicine, 1942; regimental Medical Officer to the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards, 1942-1945; joined the British Medical Association as an Assistant Secretary, 1948; Under-Secretary BMA, 1960; Deputy Secretary BMA, 1964; Secretary, 1976-1979; Vice-President BMA, 1982; joint author of the second volume (1932-1981) of the official history of the BMA.
