The Hall-Carpenter Archives were instituted as a registered charity in 1982.
The first accession was deposited in the Hall-Carpenter Archives prior to their move to the British Library of Political and Economic Science in 1988. The second accession was given by Mark Collins, Secretary of HCA, in 1999.
Administrative papers of the Hall-Carpenter Archives, 1973-1994, including news acquisitions registers, 1983-1984; correspondence, 1981-1989, with depositors and associates, including various lesbian and gay organisations and archives; financial papers, 1982-1988, including accounts, budgets and material relating to fundraising; material concerning seminars, 1983-1988, notably on 'Gays and broadcasting'; material relating to the broadcasting survey, 1980; leaflets, reports and publications, [1973]-1985; newsletters donated to the Archives by gay organisations, 1973-1982; general administrative papers and minutes of the Hall-Carpenter Archives and its antecedents, 1976-1994, including Annual Reports, accounts, minutes of meetings, registers of donations and deposits, booklists, newsletters and press releases; photographs of press cuttings, exhibitions and staff, 1975 and 1985.
