Records of the Foreign Banks and Securities Houses Association including minutes, correspondence, annual reports, circulars and newsletters. Many of the correspondence files concern matters of general interest to the Association members, such as fraud and money laundering, taxation, liquidity, securities, mergers, foreign exchange and currency, supervision and regulation, banking codes of practice, legislation, and so on.

Papers of Dingle Foot retained by his secretary J Solomons. These include papers concerning the Ministry of Economic Warfare, notes and letters on the Liberal position on rearmament and the liberties of the subject, also speeches on foreign policy.

Papers of Sir Thomas Foley, consisting of about 630 letters received by Foley between 1797 and 1832. Much of the correspondence concerns the promotion of young officers. There are approximately 140 correspondents; those with more than a few letters include Prince William Henry, Admiral Sir Richard Bickerton (1759-1832), Admiral Sir Richard Keats (q.v. ), Robert Saunders Dundas, Lord Melville (q.v.), Earl St Vincent (q.v.), Admiral Sir Robert Stopford (q.v.), Admiral Sir William Young (1751-1821) and Vice-Admiral Sir William Hope (1766-1831).

Papers comprise a flyer advertising a protest meeting against the Nazi persecution of Jews in Germany, 1938.

Papers relating to the Belmont Farm estate in Mill Hill, including deeds and other property ownership documents from various owners of the estate: Peter Hammond, his son-in-law Somerset Davies, and Sir Charles Flower. Also papers relating to Sir Charles Flower's expansion of the estates.

Legal and property records of the Flower family. The records are in the form of bound volumes containing the initial deed followed by schedules which include lists of Philip Flower's property, personal and real, lists of mortgages and copies of accounts kept by trustees. The property records relate to 17 and 18 Dover Street, Piccadilly (knocked together to form one property in 1876) and the legal records comprise deeds of release and indemnity for Cyril Flower.

Programmes and ephemera, including newspaper cuttings, of the Florian Lady Singers, including details of competitions that they took part in. The material belonged to Mollie Simmonds, a member of the choir.

The collection is mostly comprised of diaries written by Florence Turtle between 1917 and 1980. The first three diaries (1917-1919) contain generally brief and sporadic entries. There are then no diaries for the years 1920-1928. From 1929 onwards the diaries contain more detailed entries. There are no diaries for the years 1944, 1946, 1948-1949, 1952-1954, 1962, 1964-1965, or 1967-1970. Florence writes in her diaries about her relationships with family and friends, her living situation, work life, social life, holidays, and local, national and international current events, and records her thoughts and feelings on various matters. Many of the diaries contain additional notes, clarifications and corrections made by Florence in the 1970s. Some of the diaries contain photographs, and also pencil illustrations by Florence. The collection also contains one volume in which Florence reviews the books she reads throughout 1936, and a volume entitled 'Book of Ideas', in which Florence has written quotations from various sources, and also glued newspaper cuttings. The remaining items in the collection are a set of photographs of Florence's family and friends, and a framed certificate of election to the Buyers Association of Great Britain.

Records of the Florence Nightingale Hospital for Gentlewomen, 1892-1953, including annual reports, administrative files including correspondence and requisitions, accounts, papers regarding legacies and bequests and legal papers relating to property transactions. There are no surviving medical or patient records for this hospital.

Papers of Capt Matthew Flinders, consisting of three main groups: the first, the papers of Flinders himself, are charts and original journals, 1791, 1793 to 1794 and 1796, and copies, 1798, 1801 to 1803; narratives of his voyages; service papers, 1797 to 1810, and technical notes on subjects in which he was particularly interested, such as terrestrial magnetism; there is a wide range of original correspondence including letters from Sir Joseph Banks and Sir John Franklin (q.v.). Mrs Flinders' papers make up the second group: these consist mainly of letters, 1799 to 1812, including those from Flinders written during the INVESTIGATOR'S voyage, 1801 to 1803, and correspondence with French residents in Mauritius about her husband's captivity. The final group is Professor Flinders Petrie's collection of biographical material, notes, memoirs, newscuttings, etc, on his grandfather's career and correspondence with J F Shillinglaw about a biography of Flinders, which work Shillinglaw failed to complete.

Notes on the placenames of medieval London, by Marc Fitch, arranged from Fitch's drafts by Dr Jessica Freeman. Readers should be aware, however, that these notes, although written with a view to eventual publication, were preliminary. Papers of Rev George Fisher. The earliest items are two books of mathematical theorems, 1811 and 1813. There are volumes of notes and observations for both Fisher's Arctic voyages and for his period in the Mediterranean, accounts of later scientific work and abstracts of observations made by other scientists. This is the material which formed the basis of the scientific papers which he published in the Philosophical Transactions and elsewhere. There are letterbooks for Greenwich Hospital School from 1836 to 1863 (excepting the years 1858, 1859 and 1860) and other reports and papers relating to the School There are a number of items collected by Fisher The most important are Peter Puget's journal for March to May 1793 in the Chatham, storeship for Vancouver's expedition; a meteorological log also giving details of ship arrivals and departures at Madras, 1815 to 1816; Franklin's (q.v.) lunar observations on board the Trent in 1818 and Parry's (1790-1855) meteorological journal on his first two voyages in search of the North-West Passage in 1819 to 1820 and 1821 to 1823.

Papers of Alfred Hugh Fisher, 1936, comprise a letter to 'Tom' [Sturge Moore]. 'I think you may care to read a note [enclosed] ... of what old F.G. Stephens said to me in 1902 about the batch of sketches [D G] Rossetti gave to [E C] Burne Jones and destroyed on seeing them one day afterwards in Burne Jones' room'.

Papers of Sir William Wordsworth Fisher. This small collection of memoranda and letters, 1912 to 1936, consists of Fisher's ideas and opinions on policy rather than of material closely related to his career. The subjects covered include First World War operations, antisubmarine warfare, the Disarmament Conference, 1929 to 1930, comments on Invergordon, 1931, and papers concerning relations with Egypt and the Fleet in the Eastern Mediterranean, 1919 to 1922, and in 1936.

Records of Samuel Fisher, local government officer. The collection reflects the range of his interests and involvement in public life. There are a large number of photographs and press cuttings as well as some family papers. The photographs show Fisher's activities as Mayor and as Chairman of the London Labour Mayors Association, and include pictures of visits to Geneva, Australia, Gibraltar, New York, Israel and Belfast.

Series of letters from him to his brother George, a hairdresser of Leadenhall Street. The latter was a trustee of the young Lilliey family to whom the log of the LINCOLNSHIRE AND THE JOURNAL AND PASSENGER TICKET FOR THE HAMPSHIRE relate.

The records of the Fire Offices' Committee (Foreign) comprise minute books and indexes.

The main records of the Fire Offices' Committee comprise minutes of general meetings, 1861-1979 (Ms 29452); sub-committee minute books, 1897-1978 (Ms 29454); circulars, 1873-1985 (Mss 29462-3); accounts, 1874-1973 (Mss 29464-73); a significant body of material relating to the administration of the tariffs, 1842-1983 (Mss 29476-84); and material relating to fire-testing and research, 1935-72 (Mss 29457-9). The general meetings minute books contain the minutes of the district committees and standing committees on tariffs (to ca. 1890), as well as minutes of the Glasgow Rate and Salvage Association and its predecessors (1861-1904) (see also CLC/B/017-14). The accounts concern not only the Fire Offices' Committee, but also associated organisations such as the London Wharf and Warehouse Committee, the Consequential Loss Committee and the Fire Offices' Committee (Foreign).
