This collection comprises the following films produced and made by the Dagenham Co-operative Film Society:

'The Seeds of Time' was the first film made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society. It includes scenes of local children at school and at home, and in doing so provides an insight into family life on the Becontree Estate, Dagenham (1948). This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Dagenham Festival' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1951). It includes scenes of historical pageant at Valence House, Dagenham held to celebrate the Festival of Britain, as well as other social events, sporting competitions and football matches that took place during the same year. Also depicting stalls and the procession during the Dagenham Town Show. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Our Year' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1957). It includes scenes relating to the activities and functions of Dagenham Borough Council. Also depicts the celebrations in the borough surrounding the Dagenham Town Show. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Time to Play' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1960). It includes scenes that show how local parks, swimming pools, athletic tracks and other leisure sites were managed and maintained by the Parks and Leisure Department of Dagenham Borough Council. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Help Yourself to Health' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1963). It includes scenes relating to health services, such as antenatal and postnatal classes, as well as child welfare, nursery schools, school meals, immunisation, clean fuel and food hygiene initiatives that were available to residents in Dagenham. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the Borough of Dagenham.

'Playtime' was made by the Dagenham Film Co-operative Society (1969). It includes scenes of local children skipping, doing handstands and playing 'leap frog' in the playground at an unidentified school in Dagenham. This film was commissioned by and produced in association with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

Papers of Allen Daley, mainly from the period after Daley's retirement in 1952 until his death in 1969. They comprise correspondence, committee papers, reports, lecture notes and photographs relating to many aspects of public health and community medicine, including other professions in the public health field and health education. Of particular note is the almost complete set of his lecture notes, articles and speeches spanning his career and retirement (see C.3), many of which include other information relating to public health gathered by Daley for the purposes of writing the speech or article. Also, after his retirement he reviewed nearly 600 book and journal articles (see C.7).

The bulk of the papers are reports and talks reflecting Sir Weldon Dalrymple-Champneys' interests as a physician and wide range of duties as Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health at the Ministry of Health. The subject files (section H) contain details, including some manuscript diaries, of work in which he was particularly closely involved, such as snake venom and brucellosis. Texts of talks and broadcasts, some extracted from those subject files, are brought together in section F. Section D includes personal letters from distinguished colleagues. Sections A-C include mementos of Sir Weldon's father, Sir Francis Henry Champneys (1848-1930), a pioneer of modern midwifery who was Physician-Accoucheur at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London (1891-1913).

The archive of George Daniels documents his major contribution to horology and include his working papers and drawings, research notes and images for his published books, correspondence photographs and audio-visual material. The records are invaluable to researchers interested in Daniels' own work but also in historical watch and clock makers and tracing of watches, chronometers and clocks.

The earliest document is a volume of Daniels' lecture notes (LMA/4636/A/01/01/001) taken whilst studying at Evening courses at Northampton Polytechnic, St John Street, Islington in 1951-1952 (now City University London). Deed relating to Danish royal finances, 15 Feb 1822, entitled 'Acte hypothécaire sur plusieurs revenus des finances royales', by which revenues were assigned to secure a loan of 3 million pounds at 5% raised on the London market by C.J. Hambro and Sons of Copenhagen through A.T. Haldimand and Sons on terms settled on 16 Oct 1821 and ratified by Frederick VI on 10 Nov 1821. The loan was to be secured on tolls from the Sound, and on mortgages and revenues from plantations on West Indian islands. Includes the signature of Frederick VI.
