The collection is mostly comprised of diaries written by Florence Turtle between 1917 and 1980. The first three diaries (1917-1919) contain generally brief and sporadic entries. There are then no diaries for the years 1920-1928. From 1929 onwards the diaries contain more detailed entries. There are no diaries for the years 1944, 1946, 1948-1949, 1952-1954, 1962, 1964-1965, or 1967-1970. Florence writes in her diaries about her relationships with family and friends, her living situation, work life, social life, holidays, and local, national and international current events, and records her thoughts and feelings on various matters. Many of the diaries contain additional notes, clarifications and corrections made by Florence in the 1970s. Some of the diaries contain photographs, and also pencil illustrations by Florence. The collection also contains one volume in which Florence reviews the books she reads throughout 1936, and a volume entitled 'Book of Ideas', in which Florence has written quotations from various sources, and also glued newspaper cuttings. The remaining items in the collection are a set of photographs of Florence's family and friends, and a framed certificate of election to the Buyers Association of Great Britain.

The collection comprises of three draft manuscripts of books written by A M W Stirling 1908-1914; an account of Queen Mary's visits to Launceston Place and Old Battersea House; as well as a travel diary of a tour in Switzerland kept by Anna Maria Spencer-Stanhope.

Thanking him for his generous letter, occasioned by the publication of and commenting on Frank's Vergil: a biography (1922). 'I have now settled down for a few months at the American Academy and shall have time to think about Vergil and repent the too hasty publication of that book'. Referring to 'our friend, Professor [W P] Mustard' [Professor of Latin at Johns Hopkins University and Frank's colleague], who drew his attention to Warren's Essays of Poetry and the Poets (1909).

The archive consists of two parts.

Part 1 consists of records collated during Billington-Grieg's membership of a large number of international women's organisations, associated correspondence, drafts of papers presented at conferences, as well as publications received from the organisations. In addition there are papers related to her unpublished biography of Charlotte Despard.

Billington Grieg was a keen suffrage historian, and her historical writings on suffrage (as well as papers reflecting her own suffrage activism) are represented in her archive.

Notes are divided into two parts: the first covering the years 1905-1948 and the second 1949-1983.

The papers of Siegfried Weiner, early 20th century, comprise a biographical account, written by his daughter; she describes life in Regensburg, Bavaria, the family's the difficulties following their emigration to Palestine, the war of independence and then their return to Regensburg.

Papers of William Paton Ker including letters written to and by Ker, 1892-1923, some of Kerr's poems and other miscellany. Diary of Sir Charles Stewart Loch. It concerns chiefly his work as Secretary to the Council of the London Charity Organisation Society from September 1876 to November 1887.

Manuscript volume containing [a transcript of] a history of the House of Brandenburg, [1760], entitled 'Suite des mémoires de Brandenbourg composés par le Roy [Frederick II, King of Prussia] et imprimés à Potsdam 1751 en peu d'Examplaires', and mainly devoted to the life of Frederick William I, King of Prussia. A manuscript note below the title states that 'the contents of this Manuscript will be found printed in the Mémoires pour servir à l'Histoire de [la] Maison de Brandenburg, par Frederic II, Roi de Prusse (Berlin, 1767, volume II, p 67-176)'.
