Much of the material relates to her work on the relation of children's drawings to their development and includes originals and photocopies of the children's drawings, photographs of the children playing and working at the nursery school, and Amelia's research notes, papers and correspondence regarding her efforts to get the work published. The collection includes a copy of her publication 'Discovering Development with the 3-5s: a longitudinal study, 1964-1973', published c1997.

There are some earlier share certificates, 1825-54, but these appear to have belonged to John Leathwait, presumably a predecessor of Leathwait and Simmons, an advertising agency and newspaper supply firm, which Streets took over in 1918.

There are also a few records of subsidiary companies : EC Advertising Company Limited/G. Street and Co. (Provinces) Limited (Ms 33953); Streets Public Relations Limited (Ms 33954); Lionel Jackson and Partners (Ms 33955) and W Hopwood and Company (Ms 33956).

The collection includes ledgers showing pledges, stock and sales books; balance sheets and accounts; certificates of incorporation or memorandum and articles of agreement; correspondence covering a range of topics including the robbery of the Holloway Branch, letters from customers and matters relating to the closure or liquidisation of branches. There are also a series of auction sale catalogues (a family member was also a director of the London Bridge Auction Rooms) showing lots put for sale by Thomsons.

'Recueil de divers secrets rares et éprouvés concernant la Chymie, l'Alchymie, la Médecine, la Philosophie Hermétique, le tout tiré des plus célèbres Médecins et Artistes de l'Europe. Traduit du latin et de l'italien par G.G., Interprète juré des langues orientales', with other extracts and receipts from alchemical and medical authors. The third volume contains 37 full-page symbolic alchemical water-colour drawings with 68 figures (pp. 304-369): there are two symbolic diagrams in red and black on p. 190 and illustrations of alchemical apparatus on pp. 419, 430, 547. These three MSS. have been tentatively dated c 1765, as on the fly-leaf of Vol. II is an inscription: '1762. 16 aout. Tome 2ème'. Below this is the date 1785, but by the script, they seem to have been written consecutively within a few years.

The manuscripts in the collection consist of fifty-two letters written by thirty-seven scientists. They are arranged alphabetically by writer and date between 1677 and 1873. Among those which discuss scientific projects and topics is a letter, written in 1772, from Edward Bancroft (1744-1821) to Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820) about preserving ships' timbers from the ravages of 'aquatic worms'. Another, 1823, from Sir John Herschel (q.v.) to Pierre Simon, Marquis de la Place (1749-1827) is concerned with Sir William Herschel's discovery of the distances and position of the double stars and the series of experiments, using binary systems, carried out by Sir John to verify the discovery. Astronomy is again the subject of a letter of 1854 from Sir George Airy (1801-1892) to Urbain Le Verrier (1811-1877) on the arrangement of an apparatus for the galvanic register of observations, simultaneously at Greenwich and Paris, for the determination of longitude. The majority of documents in this collection have, however, been collected for their autograph value. Other than the prominent scientists mentioned above, the letters include those by William Brouncker (1620-1684), 1677 and 1685; John Flamstead (1646-1719), 1695 and 1703; Nevile Maskelyne (1732-1811), 1784; Joseph Priestly (1733-1804), 1772; William Scoresby (1789-1857), 1827 and Michael Faraday (1791-1867), 1857.

Working papers and correspondence of Sir John Henry Gaddum. The scientific material in the collection centres on a run of student and laboratory notebooks for 1922-1965, together with files of notes and calculations on biological assay and other topics. Further papers concentrate on Gaddum's teaching and publications in the form of lecture scripts, typescripts of articles and related correspondence. Material on his administrative work includes correspondence on conferences and organizations, with some Royal Society papers, but also Physiological Society letters, 1936-1941. Journal kept by John Gallop during the building of the MRC Cyclotron Unit, Hammersmith, 1949-1956, plus reports, correspondence and photographs, regarding the MRC cyclotron and many in American institutions. The 'MRC Policy' files contain reports and correspondence generated during the planning and execution of the cyclotron project, and give a good picture of the background negotiations as well as the day-to-day administration. Gallop's tutorial to the Stafford Hospital Postgraduate Medical School (G.1) summarises his view of the process. Both Gallop and J W Boag sent detailed reports of the cyclotrons which they visited in the USA in 1949-1950 (C.1-6), which Gallop prepared for publication (C.7) and lectures (C.8). The correspondence in Sections D and E contains further reports, and the personal correspondence (Section F), especially the letters from Boag, includes further thoughts on cyclotron development and use.
