Papers of Albert Speer, 1979, comprise a transcript of an interview conducted over several days in October 1979 by the depositor at the home of Albert Speer in Heidelberg, Germany. It covers Speer's involvement with the Nazi Party; his relationship with Hitler and other senior Nazis; his views on Nazi war crimes including his own involvement; anti-Semitism and prison life at Spandau.

This collection consists of two parts: Käthe Spiegel's personal and family papers, including obituaries of her father; and an essay entitled 'Studieen zum Werke des Agathokles', a cover title for a critique of Mein Kampf.

SS Brochure for Christmas 1934 was created to celebrate a Kameradschaftsabend (evening of comradeship) at a coffee house in Bremen on 15 December 1934 for a mobile SS unit based in Bremen, Sturm 2/ 14 SS-Motorstandarte and contains texts of speeches; Christmas songs; the Panzerwagenlied (tank song); list of speeches and advertisments for business in the area.

Papers of Sir Stephen Tallents, mainly relating to to his role as Secretary of the Empire Marketing Board (EMB), including files on its origins, activities (including the 1931 'Buy British' campaign, the EMB film unit, and liaison with the Commonwealth Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Melbourne, Australia), administration and break-up. These files include reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda. There are also files containing EMB publications and press cuttings. Most of the material not directly related to EMB business consists of papers related to draft works by Tallents, particularly his book on the EMB, Empire Experiment; these files include original papers from the EMB period, 1926-1933, and draft chapters, notes and correspondence (mainly 1940s). There are also files containing papers (mainly reviews) relating to Tallents' pamphlet The Projection of England (1932) and to his period as Public Relations Officer at the Post Office, 1934-1936. Copy and transcript correspondence of a German Jewish family, 1941, chiefly comprising letters from Messrs Isaak David and Martha Teich-Birken, resident in Berlin prior to their deportation to the East, to their children, most of whom had managed to emigrate to the United States except for Martin, the depositor, who came to Great Britain. The correspondence affords an insight into the frustrating and increasingly desperate plight of a Jewish family unable to flee Nazi Germany.

Boris Tödtli papers: a large part of this collection consists of correspondence described as the 'Russian Letters', containing copies of the originals and French and German translations. The letters are thought to prove a link between the different Russian military organisations of conservative character and of Fascist tendencies with the Pan-Aryan centre in Erfurt, Germany, directed by Colonel Ulrich Fleischhauer, editor of the World Service (Weltdienst), the notorious anti-Semitic publication.

Papers from seven of the twelve Subsequent Nuremberg Trials, 1938-1948, comprising copies of trial transcripts including trial judgements, reports and correspondence. The trial transcripts are verbatim. The cases are as follows:

The 'Medical Case', officially entitled United States vs. Karl Brandt: 20 of the 23 defendants were doctors, and the charges related principally to medical experimentation on human beings. Including 'CINFO Report No. 5': confidential report from the US Director of Intelligence, Military Government, Germany, consisting of an account of Nazi medical experimentation on Jews, including the case of Ahnenerbe, the institute for war related scientific research; sterilization; luminescent microscopy; and various other forms of experimentation, interspersed with transcripts of documents and a commentary, including appendices which provide short biographical details of staff involved in SS medical research and a roster of Ahnenerbe personnel and copy of an extract from the trial judgement entitled 'Permissible Medical Experiments'.

The 'Justice Case', officially designated United States of America vs. Josef Altstoetter, et al, of the 16 defendants indicted, nine were officials in the Reich Ministry of Justice. The others included the chief public prosecutor of the People's Court and several prosecutors and judges of both the Special Courts and the People's Courts. These papers comprise a part of the official transcript of the judgement and sentencing, 3-4 Dec 1947.

The 'IG Farben Case', the trial of 23 officials of I.G. Farben, officially designated United States of America vs Carl Krauch et al. Krauch was a member of the company's managing board from 1934 to 1940, and thereafter, until 1945, the chairman of its supervisory board. The material in this collection consists of transcripts of parts of the proceedings and documents relating to the case.

The 'Hostage Case', officially designated United States of America vs Wilhelm List et al. The term 'hostages' was used by the Germans to designate innocent civilians executed in retaliation for German soldiers killed. Comprising opening statement for the prosecution, 15 Jul 1947.

The 'Krupp Case', officially designated United States of America vs Alfred Felix Alwyn Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach et al, was the trial of the 12 officials of the Krupp concern. Papers include trial judgement, 31 Jul 1948; dissenting opinions of trial judges; reports on the Krupp complex produced by the German Economic Department of the Foreign Office, 1945; report and other papers on Baron Kurt von Schroeder prepared by Foster Adams and Emil Lang, of the Finance Division of the Military Government for Germany.

The 'Ministries Case' was officially designated United States of America vs Ernst von Weizsaecker et al. It became known as the 'Ministries Case' because most of the 21 defendants were charged with criminal conduct arising principally out of their functions as officials of the Reich government. Papers comprise a partial transcript of the case proceedings.

The 'High Command Case' was officially designated United States of America vs Wilhelm von Leeb et al. The defendants held various leading command or staff positions in the German armed forces. They were charged with having committed, together with other leaders of the Third Reich, crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, and with having participated in a common plan or conspiracy to commit crimes against peace. Papers include the trial judgement, 27- 28 Oct 1948; confidential memo of incriminating evidence based on an analysis of documentation, referring to Brauchitsch, Runstedt, Manstein and Strauss; typescript annotated draft analysis of the role of the SS; annotated draft section of the indictment dealing with allegations against Raeder, head of the German navy from 1928-1943 and part of a document containing chapters on the Commando Order, the Commissar Order and Walter Warlimont.

Letter from Josiah Tucker of Gloucester to Dr [William] Heberden, 11 Nov 1775. Asking Heberden's brother to call on 'Cadell in ye Strand' [i.e. Thomas Cadell the elder, publisher] to enquire about the fate and non-appearance of 800 copies of Tucker's Address and Appeal to ye Landed Interest [discussing possible independence for the American colonies], sent with a presentation list, ten days before. 'I pressed Cadell to be as expeditious as he co[ul]d, in order that the pamphlet might be published at least some days before Mr Burke was to make his famous motion ... The cold, or whatever is ye name of this new disorder, so rife at London, now begins to spread at Glocester [sic]: but I think, at present, it chiefly attacks young people. Another epidemic disorder, Electioneering, has attacked all ranks universally; and spares neither age, nor sex. What is most remarkable in this case is, that many of those, who were formerly notorious Jacobites, are now fierce Republicans: so that, form maintaining, that one Family has an indefeasible right to ye Throne, on ye extinction of that Family, we are to have no Throne at all'. Papers relating to Tull's service with Air Command, South East Asia, 1943-1944; official correspondence and situation reports and relating to his command of Number 5 RAPWI (Recovered Allied Prisoners of War and Internees) Contact Team based at Ambarawa, Java, 1945-1946, including papers relating to the Japanese Army in Java, Sep-Nov 1945, and papers concerning Indonesian nationalist organisations; papers relating to Tull's memoir entitled 'Mission to Java', written during 1980-1981 and covering his service 1938-1946, edited by his sister in 1983.

Papers of the Ullstein family, 1856-1998, comprising papers from a number of separate deposits from members of Frederick Ullstein's family. It contains both personal and family papers arranged by individual family members (1361/1-9) and material relating to the pre and post war Ullstein publishing business (1361/10-28). The latter contains correspondence regarding the take over of Ullstein by the Axel Springer Verlag (1361/17; 1361/22-23). In addition there is a quantity of material which Frederick Ullstein appears to have inherited from his former employer, Wolfgang Foges, managing director of Aldus Books (1361/29-85).

Copies of court judgements of the Verwaltungsgerichtshof, Vienna, 1954-1956, including judgement in which the appeal of David Lustig (former inmate of a camp in Italy) against an earlier court decision denying his claim of nazi-victim status is upheld, 16 Sep 1954 and judgement in which the appeal of Dr Jacques Karl Wechsler against an earlier court decision denying his claim of nazi-victim status is upheld on account of his detention in camps in Italy and loss of earnings and pension which resulted therefrom, 21 Jun 1956.

Copies of transcriptions of speeches made by Baldur von Schirach, dealing mainly with youth in Nazi Germany, 19 Apr 1940-20 Dec 1944. Each speech was subsequently checked and edited by Mia Thiel Hansen in the employ of the BBC, 19 Nov 1945. An original certificate of authentication signed by Mia Thiel Hansen is enclosed with each speech. Speeches include speech on behalf of the Hitler Youth congratulating Hitler, 19 Apr 1940; speech in which Schirach replies to President Franklin D Roosevelt and attacks him, particularly on youth employment, education and health, 4 Sep 1942; speech in which Schirach replies to Roosevelt, claiming to be partly of American descent, including a strong personal attack on Roosevelt and eulogies on Hitler, 5 Sep 1942; speech attacking Roosevelt for the Visits Foundation of European Youth League in Vienna, hosted by Italy and Germany, 14 Sep 1942; address to volunteers of the Tank Grenade Division in which he exhorts 'the traitors shall fall and the nation shall conquer' (after the July 1944 plot to assassinate Hitler), 7 Aug 1944 and broadcasts on the evacuation of children, 20 Dec 1944.
