Specification of Works to be contracted for in Building the Conservative Club House in St. James Street, May 1843, formed of 20 large parchment membranes taped together.

The Specification commences with 74 articles dealing with the structure, the site, and general conditions for the performance of the work; these fill rather more than five membranes. The rest of the Specification is headed "Description of inside Work and Finishings" and deals with the interior of the intended building, room by room, and staircases, passages, etc. There are ten small marginal drawings of mouldings, fitments, etc.

The place of Lord Boston and Viscount Castlereagh and W. Ormsby Gore, as Conservative peers and Conservative M.P. respectively, is obvious. The function of John Minet Fector in this transaction is as yet unascertained; he was a collateral descendant of the well-known Minet family. The two Bakers doubtless represent the firm of George Baker and Son, builders, of Palace New Road, Lambeth.

Receipt regarding a payment from Davey and Sawyer (coal merchants, of the Old Barge House, Southwark). The receipt is written on the dorse of a printed notice from the churchwardens of Christ Church requesting a meeting of the inhabitants in Vestry to consider the repairing of the parish church (churchwardens: J. Chambers and Robert Jenks).

Information provided includes the nature and place of voyages, provisions, special conditions for crew, certificates by consuls, with standard regulations and instructions for ships registered at London.

Jennings to Gillet and Company of Elmira, New York, on notepaper of the Castle and Falcon Hotel, London E.C., about the trade in Great Britain in auger bits and about other woods in the tool and hardware trade, 1880 and letter from W. E. Jennings to Gillet and Company from the same London hotel, about the writer's efforts to collect a debt for Gillet and Company in Hamburg, and about the trade in Europe for American tools, 1880. Records of J G Abraham and Company, property developers, 1880-1978. The records deposited include only a small proportion of the total bulk of records, but enough to represent the geographical location of the estates and the types of housing provided. The records consist of three deed books, a property register, ledgers and several plans. The plans particularly relate to developments in Leyton and Canning Town.

Personal papers of Hartley Booth, MP. The majority of the archive is concerned with Hartley Booth's parliamentary career. LMA/4021/01 relates to Booth's parliamentary responsibilities, in particular European affairs. In addition there are files containing correspondence and background material which relate to Private Members' Bills promoted by Booth. LMA/4021/01 also contains subject files on national issues that emanated from constituents' cases.

LMA/4021/02 contains constituents' correspondence and case files as well as subject files relating to local issues. LMA/4021/03 contains Conservative Party material and subject files which relate to the period when Booth was a prospective parliamentary candidate. These files relate to both local and national issues.

As the collection consists of parliamentary and constituency material, there is a closure period of 30 years. There is no closure period on the published material in LMA/4021/04.

This series consists of 45 deeds, leases and licences to sublet company land, particularly for the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley, Blandford Square, Circus Road, Loudoun Road, Marlborough Hill, Wellington Road in St. Marylebone and Alexandra Road and Broadhurst Gardens in Hampstead. The majority of the deeds contain plans.

Records of the London and North Western Railway, comprising plans of alterations to premises owned by the Company in Adelaide Road, Alexandra Road and Finchley Road, all in the borough of Camden. The plans are undated but are thought to be 1910-1939.

Records of the Mornington Lodge of Instruction Number 1672; including minutes 1944-1959, agendas 1977-1985, annual returns 1935-1983, applications and instructions for new members 1943-1952, and correspondence 1947-1992. Also financial accounts of the Treasurers 1906-1948, members accounts 1900-1953, subscriptions 1944-1975 and a file of manuscript lectures by Horace Cox 1952-1953.

This series of photographs were taken in the 1950s - 1970s of exteriors of London buildings. They cover the areas of Camden, City of London, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster. They show views of various buildings, including the Whitechapel Post Office before, during and after demolition; Mann, Crossman and Paulin Ltd Brewers, Bethnal Green; Stepney Green and Whitechapel Stations along with many panoramic shots. The photographs were taken by Hester Mallin and colleagues.
