The archive consists of transcripts of interviews with members of the Women Against Pit Closures group collected by Betty Heathfield, relating to their involvement in the 1984-1985 miners' strike. It includes a draft of an unpublished book by Betty Heathfield about the strike entitled 'Women of the Coalfields' based on these oral history interviews. This portion of the collection is available in the form of transcripts that have been anonymised to protect the identity of the interviewees.

The archive also consists of transcripts of oral history interviews, collected by Betty Heathfield, with older members of the Women's Co-operative Guild (WCG) and working papers and drafts on the history of the Guild; papers relating to the WCG and Age Exchange Theatre Company, 1983. This portion of the collection is uncatalogued and not yet available.

The archive consists of a signed letter and three signed postcards from E Sylvia Pankhurst to Mr Cornelius Gronow regarding a possible talk to the Rhondda Socialist Society, Jul-Sep 1917. It also includes a fragment of a letter from Christabel Pankhurst.

Autobiographical writings by Catherine Thackray collated by her daughter Rebecca Thackray into an autobiography; copies of published articles and poetry by Catherine Thackray; copies of obituaries of Catherine Thackray.

The archive consists of a typescript autobiography, covering the years 1886-1975. The typescript is a transcript of a tape recording dictated by Dorothy Foster Place to her four children. The autobiography includes accounts of her early life and education in New Brighton; her studies in Chemistry at the University of Liverpool and King's College, London; her studies in Agriculture at Studley Agricultural College, Warwickshire; her agricultural work during the First World War and eventually work on her own farm in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. It covers her interest and activities in the suffrage movement; her marriage; the birth of her children and her extensive holiday travels in Europe and North Africa.

The archive consists of a Douie family photograph album and a photocopied pamphlet and notes relating to Douie family history.

The archive consists of one album containing 125 autograph letters written to Emily Faithfull (and a few to her father, the Revd Ferdinand Faithfull) over the period 1830s-1890s. The letters are from a wide range of individuals, including prime ministers and statesmen, medical men, artists, scientific and literary figures, clergymen and philanthropists. All undated letters have been given a default circa date of c.1890.

A volunteer transcribed these letters in Jan 2004. Transcriptions are included in the item descriptions below.
