Records relating to tenants can mainly be found in the registers of tenants (series LMA/4656/D/08) held for the following estates only: Brandon Street, Walworth; Draycott Avenue, Chelsea; Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith; Lever Street, Finsbury and Pages Walk, Bermondsey. In the same series there is also an estate book for Snowsfields, Bermondsey which provides tenant details. Also held is Secretary's correspondence concerning compensation cases relating to named tenants (1913-1936) (LMA/4656/B/01/03/001). Names can also be found in rate assessment books (LMA/4656/D/05/002-003) and in some reports to trustees (LMA/4656/A/04).

The records were catalogued in 2014-2015 as part of a project funded by The Guinness Partnership Limited for 125th anniversary since the founding of the Guinness Trust.

Records of Lorna Holder and her fashion business including her final portfolio and photographs of her end of year fashion show for her graduation from Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham (1975); records of Ali Baba Trading Company, Oman (1976-1978) consist of photographs and film of the first televised fashion show in Oman, and correspondence and greeting cards; Davies & Field records include design sketches and portfolios containing sketches, textile samples and cuttings for female clothing during Lorna Holder's time as Head of Young Fashion (1979-1986).

Records of Full Spectrum Productions Limited consist of the project archive of Jamaica Hidden Histories (2012-2015) which document training, exhibition and events which had the aim to increase awareness of Jamaican presence in Britain. Included are some interviews with individuals of Jamaican heritage. This was the sixth project led by the company. Other projects and records of Full Spectrum Productions are not deposited.

The series includes the petitions of individuals seeking residence in the Asylum (arranged alphabetically and these have been indexed by name); a registers of residents at the Asylum 1827-1960; papers relating to the Asylum Chapel from 1847; and a small series of photographs and prints including an album of photographs of the asylum chapel, memorial tablest and portraits of chairmen.

LMA/4662/LVNH/06 Residential Homes: Denham Garden Village (1958-2001) includes an interesting series of pocket books giving information on the homes and a series of photographs mainly of the annual garden party held in Denham.

LMA/4662/LVNH/07 Residential Homes: Edinburgh Estates (1960-1980) a series of photographs of other estates run by the LVNH.

LMA/4662/LVNH/08 Publicity and Media (1877-2004) includes a set of press cutting scrap books from 1887-1957, publications and examples of souvenir programmes and magazines produced by LVNH, and a series of photographs of LVNH events including the change of keys ceremony and fundraising.

LMA/4662/LVNH/09 Beer and Wine Benevolent Society (1834-1968) covering its foundation, Governance, finance until it merged with the LVNH in 1968. Also includes papers and plans about the asylum they ran, a 1954 annual report and a few photographs.

Records of Westways Greetings including sale catalogues and unused greeting cards published by Lip Productions Limited, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America and imported by Westways Greetings for sale in the United Kingdom. The cards depict gay and Christmas themes mainly marketed to the gay and lesbian community. Some of the cards depict Black people / people of African descent and other ethnic origin.

No administrative records of the firm are known to survive.

This collection was catalogued by Ros Hamner, volunteer, as part of Speakout London project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, supervised by Sally Bevan and Richard Wiltshire, Senior Archivists.

Records of the Swiss Benevolent Society including statutes and regulations, annual reports, minutes, membership records, registers and case files of grant recipients, financial records including legacies, property records relating to the Society's offices and Hendon Cemetery grave plots, printed material and publications. The collection also contains records of related Swiss charity organisations.

Records of The Greene Sisters mainly relating to their professional life: correspondence concerning their working life, organising concerts and issues with their agents Foster's, copies of their wartime contracts as well as examples of publicity material particularly play bills for variety performance they appeared and a few programmes.

There are copies of radio broadcasts including some from the series 'Hi Gang' recorded between 1951-1952.

Included are both professional photographs and family photographs of The Greene Sisters, Jeanette, Gertie and Judy as well as their brother Marcus and youngest sister Sylvia; their parents Jack and Rebecca.

There is a series of papers of Sylvia Greene the youngest sister which include the book, lyrics and music for a musical play 'A Great Guy' written by Sylvia.

Records of individual estates across London and counties in England include the Corporation of Trinity House, Holland Park Estate, some manorial records for estates in Surrey (series reference code: LMA/4673/D/09) and records inherited by the firm from G J Brown and Son (series reference code: LMA/4673/D/11).

Further records including marketing material including annual reports used for marketing and property guidance publications (197--2011) (series reference code: LMA/4673/E), family papers of the Driver and Jonas families including the records of Samuel and Henry Jonas of Chrishall Grange, Cambridgeshire relating to 19th century East Anglian farm techniques including notebooks (series reference codes: LMA/4673/G/06-07). Hugh Barty-King's research files for the publication 'Scratch a Surveyor' (1975) on the history of the firm include photographs of partners and premises (series reference code: LMA/4673/H/03).

Records of the Customs Annuity and Benevolent Fund Incorporated including minutes of Court with expenditure accounts; 'T,MandS' Committee minutes; balance sheets and Board of Trade Returns; Benevolent grants; Rules and rates, and Register of assurances and profit (with separate index volumes).

The records document benevolent payments to individuals and their families. The main series which can be used are the Court minutes (1816-1983) (LMA/4575/01/01) and the indexes to insurance holders (1891-198-) (LMA/4675/02/03).

The Court minutes contain letters to Committee and presentations to the Board giving proposals for insurance received from individuals; life losses; surrenders; mortgages and reversions; cash statements and expenditure and details of benevolent loans including amounts advanced, paid and outstanding.

The records provide an insight into the types of proposals for support received and whether these met with success. In minutes of 5 Sep 1889 a Benevolent Grant is ordered to be paid to the widow of John Fox of Liverpool, being the amount of Poundage contributed (£5.8.10). In minutes of 10 Apr 1890 an application is shown to have been received from Henry Casserley for a loan of £20 in consideration of his being insured No.1318 (for repayment by instalments). Decision recorded that there is no power to make such a loan but that he may commute under Rule 6. An Index of insurance holders [LMA/4675/02/03/001] confirms just the one insurance number 1318 for Henry Casserley.

Records of Rotax Limited including nominal and private ledgers covering holding company and subsidiaries, bound in one volume only. No other records are currently known to survive.

Records of Gerald Kremenstein, including committee and related records of the Harrow and Brent Lesbian and Gay Group collected by Gerald Kay as Committee member, and event material, the earliest items from 1971. These include flyers, tickets, badges and membership cards for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) London-based clubs, events and groups which Gerald Kay attended. Highlights include papers relating to the Jewish Gay and Lesbian Group (JGLG) and St Katharine's Group, and a visit to United States of America.

These records were catalogued under supervision of Richard Wiltshire, Senior Archivist by Zaida Tavares, volunteer as part of the Speakout London - Diversity City project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and based at London Metropolitan Archives.

There are also records of subsidaries including H. F. & G. Witherby publishers of 'British Birds' , Electric Law Press Limited, Greaves Pass & Company and Drake, Driver and Leaver Limited (subsidiaries).

A highlight is the precedent books containing pro forma specimen court documents and forms written in Thomas Witherby's hand and intended for the guidance of his staff of law writers.

Records of Nicholas Wakelam including Plessey Pension Trust Limited: reports and accounts (1980); Unigate Group Pension Scheme: reports and leaflets (1983-1987); Thorn EMI Pension Fund: trustees reports (1988-1994) and explanatory booklets (1988-1989).

Records of Edward E. Pool and Company including financial ledgers containing daily profit and loss accounts.

The collection includes minutes (with the exception of three volumes for 1837-1843, 1866-1884 and 1896-1905 which are noted as missing in the later minute books), rules and papers from the society including reference to insuring the society silver and stories from members.

The minutes are very detailed and provide an exception insight into the pawnbroking trade; shared stories reflect concerns of the time. There are accounts of losing money on pledges, bulgaries, fraud as well as discussions on the impact of legislation on the business and the state of the trade generally. References to the type of items being pawned also show the changing value of goods over the period of time.

The minutes cover both the First World War and the Second World War and show how the pawnbroking businesses were affected during these period of time, for example during the First World War it was recorded in October 1916 that one member raised the question of whether field glasses could be taken in pledge, in February 1919 a discussion was had on the effects of demobelisation and wages and in March of 1920 they discussion the issue of being offered firearms as a pledge items and how one member had recently sold to the Ministry of Munitions two army revolvers.

The Second World War saw meetings abandoned for a short time with members raising concerns about holding what could be deemed as a 'social gathering' in war time being recorded in the February of 1940 and in May 1941 there are detailed discussions between the members concerning the effect of fire, caused by air raids on jewellery and valuables in safes which was following the next month by discussions of the position of pawnbrokers regarding war damage insurance in respect of goods that they were holding on pledge. An entry from November 1941 shows the effect of not wrapping purchased goods when a member, Mr Norris remarked that the about of pilfering by the public in the sales shops had increased since the order prohibiting the use of paper for wrapping up goods sold to customers which meant that it was not easy to detect thieving as there was noting to show at a glance whether the article had been purchased or not.

The collection includes ledgers showing pledges, stock and sales books; balance sheets and accounts; certificates of incorporation or memorandum and articles of agreement; correspondence covering a range of topics including the robbery of the Holloway Branch, letters from customers and matters relating to the closure or liquidisation of branches. There are also a series of auction sale catalogues (a family member was also a director of the London Bridge Auction Rooms) showing lots put for sale by Thomsons.

Records of The Caledonian Society of London including minutes and administrative papers, membership papers and correspondence, menu cards and recording of speeches from the Society Dinners, a series of The Chronicle of The Caledonian Society and photographs of past Presidents.

Records of the Charity of Sarah Leheup including appointment of trustees, minutes of the trustees, trust deeds, dissolution, correspondence and bank books showing state of accounts.

Records of Cy Grant reflecting his career containing rich material for research themes around multi-ethnic minority arts on a national basis, an iconic career which saw stardom and fame across the world and across ethnic divides, wartime narratives, discourse on Black African Caribbean roots, culture and race relations.

Records consist of correspondence, notes, photographs and audio-visual material. Includes Cy Grant's records relating to his service as navigator in the Second World War, records of Drum Arts Centre Limited, records of Concord Festival Trust; his acting career including theatre and film posters and programmes, correspondence with agents and producers and fan mail; writing career including published books and draft manuscripts, campaigning, spirituality and health and personal papers including copy items from 1910.

Highlights in the collection include Cy Grant's Royal Air Force log book; fan-mail, studio and film stills photographs, and audio-visual material documenting Cy Grant's fame from his acting and singing, 1950s-1970s; minutes and papers of the Drum Arts Centre Limited London, 1970s documenting the establishment of a national centre for the arts of Black people and related Black Theatre Workshop; minutes and printed material documenting the Concord Festival Trust for which Cy Grant was Director overseeing 22 multicultural ethic arts festivals across Britain over four years between 1981-1985. Cy Grant's life is documented in his memoir 'Blackness and the Dreaming Soul' published in 2007 and his original drafts are contained in the collection alongside other writings.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: The collection was catalogued as part of a project funded by Heritage Lottery Fund titled 'Navigating the Dreams of an Icon: Remembering Cy Grant Through His Archive'. £79,800 was awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to the Cy Grant Trust. The Trust, London Metropolitan Archives and Windrush Foundation formed a partnership in 2015 to oversee the archive project which ran from April 2016-May 2017 including an exhibition, website and education pack as well as a series of events including a Finale on 18 February 2017 at London Metropolitan Archives.

There are also a large series of photographs of pupils and school events as well as a series of scrap book and press cuttings covering school events, Clan days and sports days and the Caledonian Ball.

Records of the Jewish Historical Society of England including minutes, administrative papers and correspondence, finance, papers relating to articles, lectures, conferences and essay prizes offered by the society, printed material and a commemorative medallion.
