Medical log of the slave-ship LORD STANLEY, kept by Christopher Bowes the ship's surgeon between 23 March-26 July 1792. The ship traded between the African coast and the Isle of Grenada, West Indies. Of the 389 slaves on board, 16 died. The log gives the daily sick rate and there are brief notes of the cases and treatment.

At the end of the manuscript, Christopher Bowes states it is a "just and true journal" which he then presents to Custom House, at St George, Grenada in 1792. This is witnessed and signed by George Ferguson [Possibly George Ferguson, Governor of Tobago c1781]. The next page of the volume contains a statement signed by George Ferguson, saying that this is a "true copy of the original journal", and is dated September 5th 1792. Therefore it is likely that this manuscript is a copy of the original journal, which was perhaps retained in Grenada.

At the front of the volume is a letter to Arthur Bowes Elliot (grandson of Christopher Bowes) dated 5th October 1911, from Sir Ronald Ross (FRCS) 1857-1932, regarding the contents of the volume, and the diseases the slaves were suffering from.

Manuscript volume titled Experiments Physiology 1776, 1776-1777, comprising notes of experiments carried out on dogs, cats, and on eggs. Including the names of persons present during the experiments. The script of the volume's title is in the handwriting of William Clift, however the text inside does not belong to Clift. In his catalogue of manuscripts, Victor Plarr suggests that the text is by a Scot experimenting at John Hunter's house.

Papers of Alexander Peter Buchan, 1799-c 1824, comprising 2 volumes. Volume 1 contains manuscript notes and insertions concerning human longevity. The insertions are from James Easton Human Longevity: recording the name, age, place of residence, and year, of the decease of 1712 persons, who attained a century and upwards from AD 66 to 1799, comprising a period of 1733 years with Anecdotes of the most remarkable (Salisbury and London, 1799). Volume 2 contains a manuscript translation of Mssrs A Seguin and Lavoisier Respiration of Animals (Academy of Sciences, 1789).

Papers relating to Sir John Eric Erichsen, 1881, comprising a volume listing the names of subscribers to the University College London Testimonial Fund for Sir John Eric Erichsen in 1881. The fund was to obtain a permanent memorial to acknowledge his services to the School of Medicine of University College, and to students of surgery in all parts of the world. Including a printed list of names and a letter inviting subscriptions to the fund, folded into the front of the volume.

The collection notably includes material regarding the threat of College closure (it eventually merged with King's College in 1985), including a copy of the petition by members of Chelsea College acting through the AUT, regarding six resolutions affecting the future structure and activities of the College, [1982]; the answer of the College to the petition of some of its members concerning the discontinuance of certain academic departments, [1982]; typewritten results of a College assembly regarding the proposed closure of the Liberal Education Department, 1982; correspondence between Laurie Sapper of the AUT and Norman M Waldron of the Chemistry Department of Chelsea College, regarding a petition concerning redundancy.

The collection also includes minutes of the Senate, October 1981-February 1982; Chelsea College of Science and Technology, 1963, a history of the College and its departments and a typewritten list of research degrees awarded in Biochemistry at Chelsea College, arranged by year of award. Also including two black and white photographs of groups of people, one inscribed 'Some aspects of modern biochemistry!!', the reverse of the photograph reads 'Swinburne, Stevens, Prenton, Howalt and David Peg', the second 'Stevenson, Martin, Jean, Spencer, Mrs Beard, Miss Young from Lyn Fitschen'.

Papers of the Tobacco Research Team, Addiction Research Unit, Institute of Psychiatry, 1969-2000, chiefly comprising research files for projects undertaken, notably led by Professor Michael Russell. Studies are predominantly trials for methods to beat addiction (such as nicotine patches and gum) and studies on the nature of tobacco addiction. The papers of William Lishman, [1980-1997], comprising material relating to 3rd edition of Organic Psychiatry, an interview with Lishman and papers relating to a training pack on neuropsychiatry. The collection includes inserts, galley proofs and a copy of the 2nd edition of Organic Psychiatry all used in Lishman's rewriting for the 3rd edition of Organic Psychiatry, published in 1997 with several drafts of a section on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), the largest addition to the 3rd edition. Also includes interview with Lishman on his life and career and papers relating to the Neuropsychiatry training pack including the pack itself and papers of its writer, Dr Steven Church, relating to its creation.
