Plans and drawings for the proposed redevelopment of the area of Paddington north of the Great Western Railway and south of the Grand Junction Canal and dissected by the Harrow Road. The proposals are for replacement of narrow congested streets and small houses with a dual carriage speedway and blocks of flats with open ground in-between them.

Records of Hodgson Fowler, architects, 1892-1920. The records consist of plans of the following London churches: Saint Barnabas, Dulwich; All Saints, Newington; All Saints, Notting Hill and Saint Columb, Notting Hill. Where these firms were responsible for the initial building or for extensive alterations, a full ground plan and elevation of the church is given.

Records donated by the London Gas Museum, comprising some 400 Ordnance Survey sheets of various scales and editions, 1893-1989. Many have been amended to show property owned or leased by the Gas Light and Coke Company, the Brentford Gas Company or the North Thames Gas Board. These properties tend to be gas works or showrooms. The plans cover only parts of the area north of the River Thames. There are no sheets for areas south of the Thames. A later deposit consisted of staff magazines and photographs for both the North Thames Gas Board and the South Eastern Gas Board.

This collection consists of plans of 6-7 Chatham Close, Hampstead Garden Suburb, and a short history of these houses.

Records of the Cannon Brewery Company Limited, 1787-1991. This collection contains corporate, accounts and staff and premises records. Corporate records include minutes of Board meetings and Directors' meetings. It also includes the minutes book of Pelican Caterers Limited, the meetings of which were held at the Cannon Brewery. Staff and accounts records include a salaries ledger and a volume of annual returns. Premises records include documents relating to brewery premises and individual public houses with title deeds and plans, tenancy agreements and documents relating to the transfer of properties with Ind Coope Limited after Cannon Brewery was acquired.

Plans made by the Engineer's Department, West Ham Borough Council, 1894-1966. The collection includes building plans, site plans, proposals for projects and Ordnance Survey maps. The maps have been amended by the engineers to show proposals or extent of works. The proposals include swimming pools, recreation grounds, public baths, sewers, new roads and unemployment relief works. There is a large amount of material relating to Whipps Cross Hospital, including contract plans. A detailed index of the plans can be found in hard copy at the LMA Information Area.

District Surveyors Returns, 1844-1855, providing lists of notices, information and complaints, the results of notices and fees paid for works. The Districts covered were City of London; Tower Division (Tower Hamlets and the East End); Edmonton Hundred Division (Tottenham); Finsbury Division (Islington, Stoke Newington, Hornsey, Clerkenwell); Holborn Division (Bloomsbury, Saint Pancras, Paddington, Marylebone, Hampstead); Kensington Division (Chelsea, Fulham, Hammersmith); City of Westminster Division; County of Surrey (Lambeth, Camberwell, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe) and County of Kent (Deptford, Greenwich, Woolwich, Lewisham).

Poster Literature Collection of Camberwell College of Arts, [1920s-2000], comprising British and international posters, [1920s-2000], including many produced for exhibitions, including by Camberwell College, British museums such as the Tate; exhibition catalogues, articles and press cuttings, [1970s], relating to billboard and poster design of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Volumes relating to Art and Architecture. Of the six volumes in this class four relate to Greenwich Hospital; one contains the Royal Warrant of 1696 granting site for the building, followed by plans and elevations. The other three contain copies of prints, plans and drawings of the building, grounds and locality compiled by Robert Mylne (1734-1811) while Clerk of the Works in 1793; they include a series of plans showing the state of construction in 1728, and others variously dated, 1734 to 1791. There is also an architect's notebook, 1694 to 1700, possibly belonging to Nicholas Hawksmoor (1661-1736); and the sketchbook of Coote Carroll Nelson in HMS JAVA, 1826, in South-East Asia, which includes cartoons of life on board as well as coastlines and sketches of local craft and people.

Papers of Sir Arthur William Hill, c.1895-1941 comprising six series. The first consists of travel diaries and notebooks that contain observations on the flora and fauna of the places Hill visited in the Americas, Africa, India, Europe, the West Indies and Australia; the second series is made up of various correspondence and papers; the third series is comprised of scientific notebooks and sketchbooks that include notes from Hill's time working at Cambridge University; the fourth series consists of photographs and slides; the fifth series consists of lecture and speech notes and the sixth series consists of plant lists from Hill's travels.

Mainly depict 18th, 19th and 20th century domestic buildings taken from street level. The slides show Hampstead Garden Suburb, Westminster, Islington, Highgate, Camden, Bermondsey, Southwark, Whitechapel, Battersea, Camberwell and Pentonville.

Records of The Pyrites Company Limited have also been catalogued. These records include board minutes, directors' attendance books, register of directors' holdings, papers relating to The Pyrites Company Incorporated, register of members and share ledger, ledgers, accounts, agreements and contracts to supply pyrites, photographs of Wilmington Plant, and staff books.

Almost all papers relate to George Meering's experience in World War One. They comprise typewritten contemporary accounts of his war experience and as prisoner held by the Turkish, correspondence (including letter from General Edmund Allenby), newspaper articles, photographs of regiment and nurses, dinner invitation, medals and other memorabilia.

Records of Westways Greetings including sale catalogues and unused greeting cards published by Lip Productions Limited, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America and imported by Westways Greetings for sale in the United Kingdom. The cards depict gay and Christmas themes mainly marketed to the gay and lesbian community. Some of the cards depict Black people / people of African descent and other ethnic origin.

No administrative records of the firm are known to survive.

This collection was catalogued by Ros Hamner, volunteer, as part of Speakout London project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, supervised by Sally Bevan and Richard Wiltshire, Senior Archivists.

Plans of the New University Club, St James's Street, by Richardson and Gill, architects. While the plans are not dated, it is possible to estimate that they were produced between 1906 and 1938 as the architectural partnership of Richardson and Gill were in operation between these dates.

Specification of Works to be contracted for in Building the Conservative Club House in St. James Street, May 1843, formed of 20 large parchment membranes taped together.

The Specification commences with 74 articles dealing with the structure, the site, and general conditions for the performance of the work; these fill rather more than five membranes. The rest of the Specification is headed "Description of inside Work and Finishings" and deals with the interior of the intended building, room by room, and staircases, passages, etc. There are ten small marginal drawings of mouldings, fitments, etc.

The place of Lord Boston and Viscount Castlereagh and W. Ormsby Gore, as Conservative peers and Conservative M.P. respectively, is obvious. The function of John Minet Fector in this transaction is as yet unascertained; he was a collateral descendant of the well-known Minet family. The two Bakers doubtless represent the firm of George Baker and Son, builders, of Palace New Road, Lambeth.

Records of J G Abraham and Company, property developers, 1880-1978. The records deposited include only a small proportion of the total bulk of records, but enough to represent the geographical location of the estates and the types of housing provided. The records consist of three deed books, a property register, ledgers and several plans. The plans particularly relate to developments in Leyton and Canning Town.

Railway plans, consisting of two plans of Waterloo Station, the exterior and defaults of a window, and a plan of the proposed widening of Charing Cross Bridge.

Records of the London and North Western Railway, comprising plans of alterations to premises owned by the Company in Adelaide Road, Alexandra Road and Finchley Road, all in the borough of Camden. The plans are undated but are thought to be 1910-1939.

This series of photographs were taken in the 1950s - 1970s of exteriors of London buildings. They cover the areas of Camden, City of London, Hackney, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Westminster. They show views of various buildings, including the Whitechapel Post Office before, during and after demolition; Mann, Crossman and Paulin Ltd Brewers, Bethnal Green; Stepney Green and Whitechapel Stations along with many panoramic shots. The photographs were taken by Hester Mallin and colleagues.
