Papers of Hampstead Garden Suburb Care Committee for Refugee Children, 1938-[1939], comprise two alphabetical series of cards detailing the children's particulars and another cancelled series of the same, these are arranged alphabetically and concern German and Austrian Jewish refugee children, many with passport-size photographs attached, [1939]; index cards giving details of sponsors, sometimes specifying a child, 1938; index cards giving name and address of individuals with whom children lodged, including details about children and maintenance costs, [1939] and a Hampstead Garden Suburb Care Committee for Refugee Children form for potential sponsors, [1939].

Records relating to Mary Green, comprising apprenticeship indenture; instructions to Mary Green at time of her apprenticeship directing her to good behaviour and industry; certificate from Foundling Hospital of satisfactory completion of apprenticeship by Mary Green; printed advice and guidance for her future life presented to Mary Green by Foundling Hospital.

Records of the Foundling Hospital. The collection consists of over 800 linear feet of shelving, an estimated 8 tons of paper, and over 1000 plans. The completeness of the collection is particularly noteworthy. The officers of the Hospital from the very beginning were extremely meticulous in record keeping and detailed documents survive which record the lives of the children, the way in which the Hospital operated, the methods of nursing, the prescriptions of the apothecary, the reports of the inspectors, the extraordinary accounts of women's lives, and the involvement of leading figures of the day in actively supporting the charity.

Papers of noted Jungian analyst Michael Fordham, with some papers of his second wife, Frieda Fordham, formerly Hoyle, also an analytical psychotherapist. They include his correspondence with C. G. Jung over a period of several decades and files relating to his work as co-editor of of Jung's published Collected Works, material on the Society of Analytical Psychology (of which Michael Fordham was one of the founders), correspondence with colleagues,and files relating to the infant observation courses at the Tavistock Clinic with which Michael Fordham became involved in later life. There is also a good deal on the evolution of Michael Fordham's ideas, both in his own published and unpublished writings, and in the annotated research material. There is much less surviving material relating to Frieda Fordham's life and career, apart from a substantial amount of correspondence from the years immediately preceding their marriage (PP/FOR/A.3/2), and a few published and unpublished papers (PP/FOR/B.9).

Papers of Dr. Letitia Fairfield, reflecting her interests in social hygiene, in mental health, in medico-legal matters and criminology, mother and child health and welfare, and as a Roman Catholic convert, as well as her broader political and feminist convictions. There is also some biographical material.

The papers of Kathleen and Millicent Coleman comprise three classes of material: the private papers of the sisters and the Coleman family, 1842-1957; records relating to the National Children's Home, 1935-1981; and the Pestalozzi Village Trust, 1948-1989. Domestic proceedings: A married woman under the provisions of the Summary Jurisdiction (Married Women) Act 1895 and subsequent Acts could go to a magistrates' court and apply for orders which in certain circumstances would enable her to separate from her husband, have custody of any children and receive maintenance from him. Under the Poor Law Amendment Act 1844 a mother expecting a bastard child or who had given birth to one could obtain a maintenance order against the putative father.

A thick file of unpaginated duplicated material entitled 'Child Health and Environment: Bethnal Green', 1960s, apparently course material distributed in connection with a course in, presumably, child health, at St Bartholomew's Hospital (University House). The material is undated but from references within the text and given in the bibliography would appear to have been compiled in the late 1960s. The approach taken in the course would seem to emphasise the environmental aspect of child health and to take a social medicine perspective. Notes circulated in connection with a course on the above given at St Bartholomew's Hospital during the late 1960s.

The archive consists mainly of the Secretary's correspondence files and the files of the various working parties, plus a broad range of publications.

Cheadle's papers, 1877-1934, include his notes on the use of anti-scorbutic treatment for scurvy in young children, includes notes of six cases, with temperature charts, 1877-88. Also includes explanatory notes from J.F. Poynton, 1910; Original paintings and photograph of infantile scurvy by Cheadle, from the cases of Sir Thomas Barlow, to accompany Cheadle's original records of the cases, [1877-79], with letter presenting paintings to the College from Poynton, 1934.

Brooke's scrapbook and letters relating to her work as a Health Visitor, 1919- c.1952.
