Court minute books or notebooks are rough notes of the proceedings recording the gist of the evidence given.

Records of the Inner London Juvenile Courts, 1910-1997. These court registers are the only surviving records of the juvenile courts to have been transferred to the Greater London Record Office (now London Metropolitan Archives). For a short period after 1909 two sets of registers were kept by each court, Part 1s and Part 2s. This mirrors the practice of the adult courts. Part 1s were cases arising mainly from arrests and charges by the police; Part 2s were normally cases brought by means of summonses. From the early 1920s most juvenile courts began to keep one series only containing both types of cases.

The information contained in registers includes: date of hearing, name of informant/complainant (often the police), name and age of the defendant, nature of the offence, the adjudication by the magistrate, and the latter's name.

These registers are not indexed. No other supporting papers have survived.

Domestic proceedings: a married woman under the provisions of the Summary Jurisdiction (Married Women) Act 1895 and subsequent Acts could go to a magistrates' court and apply for orders which in certain circumstances would enable her to separate from her husband, have custody of any children and receive maintenance from him. Under the Poor Law Amendment Act 1844 a mother expecting a bastard child or who had given birth to one could obtain a maintenance order against the putative father.

Documents relating to a distillery in Paddington and to appointment as a gaoler at Newgate appear to be unconnected to the family. Personal papers of Hartley Booth, MP. The majority of the archive is concerned with Hartley Booth's parliamentary career. LMA/4021/01 relates to Booth's parliamentary responsibilities, in particular European affairs. In addition there are files containing correspondence and background material which relate to Private Members' Bills promoted by Booth. LMA/4021/01 also contains subject files on national issues that emanated from constituents' cases.

LMA/4021/02 contains constituents' correspondence and case files as well as subject files relating to local issues. LMA/4021/03 contains Conservative Party material and subject files which relate to the period when Booth was a prospective parliamentary candidate. These files relate to both local and national issues.

As the collection consists of parliamentary and constituency material, there is a closure period of 30 years. There is no closure period on the published material in LMA/4021/04.

Records of London and North Eastern Railway Company, 1926-1944. This series consists of 45 deeds, leases and licences to sublet company land, particularly for the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley, Blandford Square, Circus Road, Loudoun Road, Marlborough Hill, Wellington Road in St. Marylebone and Alexandra Road and Broadhurst Gardens in Hampstead. The majority of the deeds contain plans.

Records of E Lambert and Son, druggists, comprising agreement between Edward Joshua Lambert of 60 Queen's Road, Dalston, druggist's sundryman and manufacturer of surgical instruments (trading as E. LAMBERT and SON), and Harry Percy Neats Watkins of 5 Tyrrell Road, Dulwich, for the employment of Watkins by Lambert for three years as clerk and traveller, at £2 10s 1 per week, hours 9 am to 7 pm (Saturdays 9 am to 2 pm), holidays 14 days per year, 1893.

Records of Gaol Delivery Sessions for Middlesex prisoners, held at the Old Bailey, 1754-1887. The series OB/C/J is an index of charges (indictments); OB/C/P is a list of prisoners. OB/REB contains lists of fines (estreats) and bonds (recognizances) imposed in court; OB/SB are the minutes, and OB/RSB the rough minutes, of proceedings in court; OB/SP are the loose administrative papers (sessions papers) relating to the business happening in court - exisiting for the years 1755 - 1759, 1761, 1764-1790, 1792, 1796; OB/SR are the sessions rolls, the official documentation of the judicial procedure at the sessions. Some of the sessions papers are uncatalogued at present (Feb 2010).
