It is a working paper prepared in the 1970s as part of Terry Johnson's project on the Nature and Significance of Professional Links within the Commonwealth.

These relate mainly to the D-Day landings, showing the various landing zones, enemy positions, etc, but there are also some charts showing the coastline of Sicily prior to invasion. Also present in the collection is an iluminating after-action report by Lt-Cdr Cazaly to his C.O., explaining how his flotilla fared during the D-Day landings.

The records are especially strong for financial records (including partners' and staff ledgers), and the company's late 20th century history, particularly the period around "Big Bang" in the 1980s, and leading up to incorporation in 2001. As well as partnership deeds, minutes, accounts and financial records, they include the papers of a number of partners, including Mark Loveday who was Senior Partner 1994-2001 and retired on the point of incorporation, and a significant amount of material gathered in the course of research for the company's history. The archives include copy material dating from 1823.

The archives are subject to a 30 year closure rule and are on 24 hours call. Access to some of the correspondence is subject to special conditions. For further details about access, please enquire with staff.

The records concern both strategic telegraphy and telephony activities, such as policy, planning, legal papers (including on the takeover of the National Telephone Company) and routine reporting, and central operational activities including personnel and communications (including Joint Production Council publications, staff magazines, press notices, media coverage and training school and studio photographs).

These central administration records also include the minuted papers relating to telecommunication services 1889-1977 that, for various reasons, fell outside previous archival transfer. The subjects in these minuted papers (TCB 2) include satellite communications (Early Bird), international telephone services, policies toward staff and unions, telephone information services (including ship telephone services, roads and weather, teletourist service, speaking clock and the Santa Claus service), and technological developments (including telephone kiosks, the answering machine, "Amplifying Telephone" and "Laryngaphone").
