For each case there is a precept for summoning a jury, a list of jurymen and their resulting inquisition. The list records the general location of the property and the owner or leaseholder concerned.

Records of the parish of Saint James, Garlickhithe (or Garlickhythe), Garlick Hill, City of London. The archive includes an arbitration in a dispute involving the parish of St. James Garlickhithe dated 1436, but the main archive dates from the 16th century with parish registers (baptisms, marriages, burials, banns, confirmations, preachers) surviving from 1535; churchwardens' accounts from 1555 and vestry minutes from 1615. The bulk of the archive is 17th century or later, including poor rate and tithe rate assessments; and papers relating to parish charities and estates (properties).

Also records of St James' Guild: the records comprise: minute book, 1910-14 (Ms 10795), and ledger 1907-12 (Ms 10796).

Records of the parish of Saint Katherine Coleman, Fenchurch Street, City of London. The parish registers (baptisms, marriages, banns) are from 1559, there are vestry minutes from 1659; and Churchwardens' accounts from 1610. Records of the Saint Luke Charity School, later known as Saint Luke's Parochial School, including Minutes of the Trustees from 1882 to 1970, Managers Meetings 1904 to 1980, Subscribers and General Committee Minutes 1813 to 1941, AGM minutes 1916 to 1943, Schools and Estates Committee 1875 to 1904, House Committee 1812 to 1876, School Care Committee 1919 to 1970 and reports and correspondence 1911-1970.

Also financial accounts 1761 to 1944, and receipts 1868 to 1950; and records relating to property owned or bought by St. Luke's Trustees including leases and mortgages for properties in Cleveland Street, Westmoreland, William Street and Marylebone Lane, 1717 to 1976. Pupil records include a short series of Admission Registers 1918 to 1979, Log Books 1913 to 1961 Punishment Books 1947 to 1969, and Pupil Transfer Books 1960 to 1975. There are also a series of pupil files 1915 to 1979, and a series of agreements 1903 to 1938 between managers and teachers along with statements of work.

Charities and Education of the Poor in England and Wales 1815-1839'. There are also plans and maps of the School and its parish 1887 to 1976 and some ephemeral items which include invitations and visitors book for the opening of the new School in 1974, and a series of photographs showing trustees, teachers events and school properties dating from around 1887 to 1970's.

Records of the Aged Pilgrim's Friend Society, comprising papers relating to a proposed new asylum at Hornsey Rise; and annual reports.

Records of the Herst Leather Corporation, [1900]-1983. Administrative papers including material relating to the incorporation of the companies, correspondence to and from suppliers and clients, and details of products and processes at the Avondale Tannery; financial papers including records of sales and purchases along with accounts from Herst, Leading Leathers and Avondale and credit reports of companies they dealt with; and publications and ephemera including directories on the leather trade and surveys of the shoe industry. Also a short series of samples of leather from Herst Leather Corporation as well as samples from Buenos Aires.

The collection comprises photographs from the Greater London Council Department of Architecture and Civic Design and the Department of Planning and Transportation.

Records of the North London Division of the Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity); including administrative records such as minutes of the District Committee, circulars and correspondence and printed material and the records of the North London Darts Association dating from 1914-1987. Records of the London Electricity Board and predecessors, 1883-2003. This collection contains a wide variety of material including minute books, staff records, technical reports, engineers' log books, photographic and printed material (including newsletters, magazines and leaflets and booklets on electricity services) of the LEB (1948-1990) and LEB inherited material from a large number of undertakings operating in the pre-vesting period (1882-1948).

Records of the Belmont Synagogue, covering the whole range of activities undertaken by the Synagogue. In particular, the administration is well represented with minutes, agendas and correspondence from all the main committees; the Council of Management, Membership, Building Fund, Ladies Guild, Parents Association, Education and Social Activity Group.

Information on the religious life can be gleaned from files on Rabbi selection, Bat Chayil Ceremony, Yom Naroim and the Sefer Torah as well as from the substantial photographic collection which also presents a good picture of the social side of the community.

Issues of the Invalids Magazine Album. This fascinating set of 'scrap albums' are the survivors of a set that was seemingly created over a period of 10 years or more from the beginning of the 1900's to the start of the First World War. It is difficult to do these albums justice in describing them, as they are a treasure trove of charm and innocence. They not only contain articles handwritten by the contributors, but occasional newspaper cuttings and photographs of domestic scenes, landscapes, foreign holidays, and watercolour paintings of flowers, landscapes and 'designs'.

The earliest volumes contain simple stories in melodramatic style, and exhortations by the editors to send in contributions on time. As the contributors grow up we can see the paintings improve, the stories and articles become more considered and the photographs become art rather than snapshots. The later volumes contain articles about the war which had just been declared, photographs of recruitment and a list of some dozen members of the I.M.A. who were then 'in uniform'. As an editorial note put it "...the most terrible war of all times has swooped down down upon us...".

The remaining records date from the 17th century, including churchwardens' records, administrative papers, papers relating to poor relief and papers relating to the parish estate.

Records of the Metropolitan Association for Improving the Dwellings of the Industrious Classes. The minutes (LMA/4025/01) describe in detail the foundation of the Association, its aims and objectives. They document its development from a well-intentioned philanthropic organisation to a major provider of housing (12 substantial blocks by 1873). The activities recorded range from fund-raising to land acquisition and from collections of mortality statistics to estate management.

The visitors book (LMA/4025/03) records the important visitors to Old Pancras Road including Prince Albert, Lord Shaftesbury, Mr Gladstone, Charles Kingsley and Dr Southwood Smith.

These manuscripts have not been accessible to researchers before and are an exciting discovery. They were purchased with assistance from the Purchase Grant Fund administered by the Victoria and Albert Museum.
