WW Pownall and Company took over as proprietors of The Australian Wine Company in 1887-8, at which time the company was at 4 Mill Street, Hanover Square. It moved to 57 St Mary Axe in 1897.
This volume was transferred to the Manuscripts Section of Guildhall Library in 1994 having originally been deposited in the Printed Books Section of the Library in 1971 by the Institute of Masters of Wine as part of their collection of printed books. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
Letter book of BW Bagenal, agent in Australia of WW Pownall and Company, wine merchants, containing copies of his correspondence with Australian wine producers sent out from his offices in Melbourne. It ends in February 1898, when he was recalled to London.
