Records of the Putney Society's actions, decisions, and finances, including: financial records and minutes, agendas, reports, and notes for meetings of the society and its executive committee, subcommittees, and panels. There are also Society publications and mailings, including the Putney Society Bulletin and the Putney Society Review, photographs, scrapbooks and newspaper cuttings, working files and subject files. External research documents include documents produced by outside organisations and used or consulted by members of the Putney Society; most are consultation documents produced by the London Borough of Wandsworth, the Greater London Council, or central government, but there are flyers, leaflets, and other items produced by pressure groups.

Records of the administration of the parish of Putney. Includes: minutes of the parish vestry; minutes of the Overseers of the Poor; accounts and vouchers of the Churchwardens; accounts of the Surveyor of Highways for the parish; accounts of the parish constable; statements of accounts for parish charities; apprenticeship indentures.

The records include minutes, membership records, programmes, newspaper cuttings and other publicity material, 1922-1983. The choice of subjects for the debates and lectures, and the press coverage, reflect popular attitudes to issues during this period.The chairman's gavel and printers block with the society logo were deposited with the records. These have been transferred to Wandsworth Museum.

The collection consists of news cuttings relating to the activities of the Putney Liberal Association, from local newspapers as well as national (The Guardian, Daily Telegraph) and Liberal News. The cuttings include coverage of the British response to South African politics and Apartheid and the career of Peter Hain, (Vice-Chair of Putney Young Liberals 1968-1971 and National Chair of the Young Liberals 1971-1973).

The collection contains minutes of meetings of the Executive Committee and the General Management Committee from 1924 to 1983 although with substantial gaps. There are also minutes of meetings of the East Putney branch and the Thamesfield Ward branch of Putney Labour Party. There are also several Annual Reports as well as correspondence relating to elections, membership and general party business. Also includes newspaper cuttings, posters, pamphlets and other publications.

Records of Putnam and James, butchers, 1878-1903, including three daily order books for the butcher's shop, giving names, addresses, order placed and weight; bills and estimates for work to be done.

Photographs, with captions from an unidentified Soviet exhibition on Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. The photographs depict Pushkin's literary entourage and title pages of Pushkin's works, illustrations of productions and sketches for productions of Pushkin's works and commorations of the centenary of Pushkin's death (1937) in schools and factories.

Papers of Adml John Child Purvis, 1761-1817, comprising logs and admiral's journals for the years 1761 to 1763, 1778 to 1783 and 1793 to 1810, letter and order books, 1781 to 1783 and 1793 to 1810, and correspondence and loose papers, including some letters with the Spanish authorities, mostly 1806 to 1810. There is also an autobiographical essay. There are also some papers relating to Purvis's son, Lieutenant Richard Fortescue Purvis, 1806 to 1817.

'An account shewing how the money given for the service of the year 1756 has been disposed of distinguished under the several heads (navy, ordnance, forces, deficience and one section of miscellaneous items) until the 4th day of March 1757 with the overplus thereupon...presented...by me Samuel Martin', 4 Mar 1757.

Publications on psychological operations, 1915-2002, including books, editions of Falling Leaf (the magazine of the Psywar Society), other publications by the Psywar Society, journals, newsletters, VHS tapes, photocopies and printouts.

Tapes and transcripts of interviews conducted in 1988 by Sam Sussman with three Nottingham psychiatrists (A.D. Douglas, E.D. Oram and A. Minto). Mr. Sussman's intention had been to produce a history of psychiatric treatment in the U.K. through the eyes of its practitioners similar to the one he had already produced on Canada; copies of this work (Pioneers of Mental Health and Social Change by Djuwe Joe Blom and Sam Sussman, Third Eye, London Canada, 1989) are also included in this collection. A.D. Douglas and E.D. Oram of Saxondale Hospital were interviewed first; the recordings were typed up and subsequently corrected and slightly amended, evidently in preparation for the publication. The interviewees discuss their training and experiences as psychiatrists and the changes in the profession from the 1940's and 1950's. The Wellcome Library subsequently received cassettes of those interviews, as well as a cassette and transcript of a similar interview with Dr Alfred Minto of Nottingham.

Illustrated with numerous pen-drawn magical figures, talismans, etc. in gold, silver and colours. In Vol. I the text is in red, black and green: in Vol. II the text is in similar colours, and facing the title-page is a folding figure of a magic Circle in red and green, the text in red. In both volumes there are historiated ornaments, vignettes, tail-pieces, etc., by the calligrapher who signs himself on the title-page of Vol. I 'J. S. Fyot, Écrivain. 1796'.

Eleven miniatures, probably cut from the first leaves of a psalter, illustrating scenes from the life of Christ. The subject of each is as follows: Annunciation, Nativity, Annunciation to the Shepherds, Adoration of the Magi, the Last Supper, Flagellation of Christ, Christ Crucified, Women at the Sepulchre, Ascension, Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles and Death of the Virgin.

Single paper leaf containing part of Psalm 118, 121-142, written as prose but with red capital letters marking the openings of all verse-lines. Possibly from Liège, North-East France, c1500.

Papers of Cpt William Pryce-Cumby, comprising a book containing copies of orders and memoranda, 1796 to 1798, 1801 and 1804, a watch, station and quarter bill for the THALIA, a private letterbook, 1803 to 1808, night order books, 1807 and 1814, and passwords in use in Pembroke Dockyard in 1837.

Radar Calculation by Maurice Henry Lecorney Pryce. Introduction to the calculation states 'The problem is to find the electromagnetic field due to a source of elctromagnetic oscillations placed near to a very large sphere. By large is meant that the ratio of the wavelength to its radius, and also the ratio of the distance of the source from the surface of the sphere to its radius, are very small. The source is supposed to be in vacuo. The material of the sphere is such that waves are attenuated in a distance small compared with the radius."
