Records of the Belmont Synagogue, covering the whole range of activities undertaken by the Synagogue. In particular, the administration is well represented with minutes, agendas and correspondence from all the main committees; the Council of Management, Membership, Building Fund, Ladies Guild, Parents Association, Education and Social Activity Group.

Information on the religious life can be gleaned from files on Rabbi selection, Bat Chayil Ceremony, Yom Naroim and the Sefer Torah as well as from the substantial photographic collection which also presents a good picture of the social side of the community.

Records of the Clapton Youth Centre, including Senior Members Defence Committee and Committee for the Defence of Clapton Youth Centre minutes and papers; nightly report sheets; Jean Tate, Tutor Warden (later Head)'s correspondence files concerning policy, disciplinary hearings, papers concerning campaigns and events based at the Centre including Anselm Samuel, Tutor in Charge (later Outreach Worker); the death of Colin Roach in Stoke Newington and Colin Roach Family Support Committee (joint campaign with Hackney Black Peoples Association); New Cross Fire demonstrations; trip to Grenada during the Revolution in 1980; related leaflets, posters, photographs and audio cassette tapes.

The records demonstrate how the Centre was run, and how relations deteriorated between the Centre and its parent, the Inner London Education Authority. The papers of the campaigns which were run from the Centre are particularly valuable for research on local issues in Hackney, as well as wider activism in the Black community. The photographs, slides and negatives are also a strong element in the collection, documenting the Centre's activities and related campaigns such as Colin Roach demonstrations and support given to the Knight family.

Records containing personal information concerning Jean Tate and Anslem Samuel are available for general access as those individuals have requested this access rule during their lifetimes. Records containing personal information relating to staff are not available for general access and have been restricted for 84 years from the last date in each file. Records of the Jewish Memorial Council, 1899-2001. The archive mainly consists of files and volumes of minutes and working papers. The records of the Reverend Malcolm Weisman are noteworthy for the detail they provide on the survival of Judaism in small, often isolated, communities.

There is a good range of committee minutes, correspondence files and publications. The correspondence files approximate to the various departments although the contents of each one can be quite diverse.

Papers of the Manor Gardens Centre, 1918-2002, including minutes of the Executive Committee and minutes of the Finance, Staff, House, Mothers, Wards and Trustee Committees; administrative files including annual general meeting working papers, educational visits, requisitioning, health visitors, wards, wages, new building, fund raising, war savings, insurance, clinics, trustees, reports, letters to newspapers, certificates and staff; papers relating to the Holiday Scheme; annual reports; press cuttings; publications including booklets about the work of the Centre and a history of the North Islington Infant Welfare Centre and School for Mothers 1913-1973; financial statements; photographs and printing blocks of mothers and children, staff, special events and Centre buildings; architectural plans.

Records of the Mary Ward Centre, formerly known as the Mary Ward Settlement and the Passmore Edwards Settlement. Also some records of predecessor institutions University Hall Settlement and Marchmont Hall; and associated organisations such as the Holborn Community Centre and the Association of Principals of Literary Institutes and Colleges.

The records include papers relating to the foundation of the Settlement, particularly correspondence of Mary Ward with supporters and benefactors; minutes of the Council, the Finance and General Purposes Committee and other Committees; administrative and financial files relating to the daily running of the Settlement and the maintenance of Settlement property; papers of the Chairman and Wardens which relate to the management of the Settlement and reflect the interests of individual wardens, particularly relating to adult education provision in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s; papers relating to various appeals to raise funds to prevent the closure of the Settlement; and papers relating to grant applications.

Also papers relating to the activities of the Settlement including prospectuses and syllabi outlining adult education courses; papers of youth clubs, vacation schools, evening play centres, clubs for the elderly and clubs for women; papers relating to the School for Invalid Children; papers relating to the provision of financial and legal advice; papers regarding the introduction of computing services in the early 1990s; press cuttings and photographs. The collection also includes some personal papers of Mary Ward and her daughter Dorothy Ward.

This collection consists of the working papers of Muriel Smith. They cover the period of the 1950's to the late 1970's when Muriel Smith was working at the London Voluntary Service Council and the Home Office before her retirement in 1979.

The papers include Registry Files consisting of a series of subject files relating to the early work of Muriel Smith from 1952 to 1967 and include files on the Central Housing Committee, the Kenilworth Study Group, Housing, Playgrounds and the Association of London Housing Estates; Community Development Project Files which cover the period 1959-1974 and are mainly concerned with Muriel Smith's work at the Home Office; Voluntary Service Unit papers; correspondence including letters to Ilys Booker (a friend and fellow community development worker); papers relating to The North Kensington Project, Association of London Housing Estates, Tower Hamlets, and the Danilo Dolci Fund; and material produced by Ilys Booker relating to projects that Muriel Smith was also involved in.

Records of the River Cultures Festival, comprising final published project oral histories 'Memories of the genuine children of Limehouse Chinatown': 'the photographs down memory lane' and 'what we remember' (2005), 'Spinning Lifestyles by East London's Bangladeshi families' (2007), and original recordings for the project 'Walking Proud in East London' (2011).

Records of the parish of Saint Katherine, North Hammersmith, including registers of baptisms, marriages, banns of marriage and confirmations; registers of church services; orders of service; curate's licences; papers regarding the establishment of parish boundaries; papers relating to the benefice and Queen Anne's Bounty; papers regarding the maintenance of the church and church hall; Vestry minutes; Parochial Church Council minutes; financial accounts of the mission of Saint Michael and All Angels, Ducane Road; papers relating to the youth and community centre; parish magazines; and photographs.

Records of the Time and Talents Association, also known as the Time and Talents Guild. This collection dates mainly from 1903 to the 1950's although it does include annual reports up to 1977. The records relate to the activities of the original London branch of Time and Talents. Reports from other branches can be found in issues of Time and Talents News (A/TT/140-151). The Review and the Time and Talents Newsletter were both suspended during the war and replaced by a printed newsletter from Nov. 1939 (A/TT/203-216).
