Records of the Standing Conference for Local History, later known as the British Association for Local History. The records comprise: minutes and related papers 1949-1982; Regional Meetings correspondence and related material 1968-1973; subject files covering a large number of topics 1949-1981; general correspondence and papers 1938 - 1981; correspondence and papers regarding publications by the Standing Conference/National Council for Social Service 1951-1982; copies of publications 1950-1983; and The Local History Recording Scheme files which originated from an early NCSS scheme and cover certain counties 1935-1979.

Also minutes 1982-1996, correspondence 1979-1994, administrative files and papers 1981-1997, and editorial files relating to the publication The Local Historian 1970-1990.

Brent Black Music History and NARM (Naming and Role Models) Heritage Lottery Funded projects published booklets and DVD recordings (the latter are available by prior appointment). Also African Histories Revisited's published 'Race/Racism Primer' (2014).

Records of the Clapton Youth Centre, including Senior Members Defence Committee and Committee for the Defence of Clapton Youth Centre minutes and papers; nightly report sheets; Jean Tate, Tutor Warden (later Head)'s correspondence files concerning policy, disciplinary hearings, papers concerning campaigns and events based at the Centre including Anselm Samuel, Tutor in Charge (later Outreach Worker); the death of Colin Roach in Stoke Newington and Colin Roach Family Support Committee (joint campaign with Hackney Black Peoples Association); New Cross Fire demonstrations; trip to Grenada during the Revolution in 1980; related leaflets, posters, photographs and audio cassette tapes.

The records demonstrate how the Centre was run, and how relations deteriorated between the Centre and its parent, the Inner London Education Authority. The papers of the campaigns which were run from the Centre are particularly valuable for research on local issues in Hackney, as well as wider activism in the Black community. The photographs, slides and negatives are also a strong element in the collection, documenting the Centre's activities and related campaigns such as Colin Roach demonstrations and support given to the Knight family.

Records containing personal information concerning Jean Tate and Anslem Samuel are available for general access as those individuals have requested this access rule during their lifetimes. Records containing personal information relating to staff are not available for general access and have been restricted for 84 years from the last date in each file. Records containing personal information relating to members (who were aged 12 years and above) are not available for general access and have been restricted for 88 years from the last date in each file.

Audio-visual material is available for access by appointment only.

Papers of Islington Chinese Association, including general administrative records, annual reports, and printed material including event programmes, brochures and newsletters.

Organisational papers of the League of Jewish Women, including meeting minutes from various committees; reports; general administrative records; correspondence; papers relating to the organisation of various events and conferences; magazines and press cuttings; and films and photographs.

Records of London Youth Matters, consisting primarily of administrative papers including committee minutes and reports; general filing on a variety of topics; financial papers and a small number of publications.

Records of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), formerly the National Council of Social Service, (NCSS). This is a large archive and one of great interest to those studying both charities and their development and the changing attitudes and ideas of voluntary aid from the early 20th century.

Internal Services records consist of the main series of minutes of NCSS/NCVO committees, Interdepartmental groups, Members' groups and Associated Bodies, regional and central organisation and the histories of various NCSS/NCVO departments. There are also short series of financial material, legal material and documentation from the Advice Unit and Rural Department of the NCVO.

The Membership Division records cover policy and the Research Department while the Public Affairs Division contains the National/International and Overseas Departments, the Press and Parliamentary sections including the Information Department and one of the largest series, that of publications.

Records of the Pensions Advisory Service Limited, comprising: memorandum and articles of association; a publication on the history of the organisation; annual reviews.
